It's easy to be overwhelmed by all the bad news. There's plenty of it.
So it never hurts to realize there are actually good things about the Corona virus. What could possibly be good about it, you say? Fair question. Turns out, there are some good things. Here's the 10 best things I have noticed about the Corona Virus:
10. Homes have never been cleaner. With all this time on our hands, people are cleaning more thoroughly and more frequently. Especially those often-touched surfaces! I don't know about you, but my doorknobs have never been so clean! And for once, we're all caught up on the laundry. Homemaking has reached a new level.
9. Gardening and the arts. More people have planted or are planning to plant gardens this year because now they finally have the time to do what they really feel like doing. Many are growing things to eat. Others are reacquainting themselves with their inner artist. It is a rare massive movement toward the arts. Bravo.
8. Eating better. Now that everyone is forced to buy food, bring it home and cook it, people are eating better than fast food. Especially if they are using whole foods instead of highly processed.
7. The political parties came together on some things!
6. Taking the time to call and say hello. People are spending more time kicking back and talking on the phone just for the fun of talking and staying in touch.
5. Cars washed, waxed and detailed. Lawns and grounds raked and manicured.
4. Resurgence in reading. People who never had time to read books are now finding the time. People are learning more. Humans are getting smarter.
3. All the incredibly selfless acts of kindness. Neighbors helping one another, and helping strangers. Some of the
stories are touching.
2. Spending more time with loved ones. How much quality time do we normally get with the rest of the family? Got that covered now. For small children of young working parents this is fabulous. None of them are complaining that mom and dad are around for them any time of day. Board games never got so much use...
1. Cleaner skies, less pollution and less global warming:
"On Tuesday, LA saw some of the cleanest air of any major city in the world, according to IQAir, a Swiss air quality technology company which also monitors pollution levels in cities around the globe.
And beginning in early March of this year, EPA air quality data shows that the city of Angels experienced its longest stretch of "good" air quality since at least 1995.
Dr. Yifang Zhu, a professor of environmental health sciences at UCLA's Fielding School of Public Health, said that she and her colleagues identified a similar trend.
Between March 16 -- three days before California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered the state's 40 million residents to stay home -- and April 6, Zhu's team found there was a 20% improvement in overall air quality in Southern California."
LA - With Clear Skies, No Smog - Amazing!
I bet if you think about it, you can think of other good stuff about this crisis. Any silver linings to
your cloud?
