Two cents on Covid-19 lockdown.

The same for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; in a world of limited resources, resources must be measured.

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few or the one" is the Star Trek version of "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs".

Even Marx knew people had to have enough food to eat through the winter. If everyone ate and the food would last only half the winter, it becomes a math problem regardless of economic system or politics to decide how best to let the community survive.

As I had mentioned to my sister, we're already in this position just like we were when the planes flew into buildings. It's what We, the People, decide to do about it so it doesn't happen again is the most interesting part.

This is a different situation, premature opening means people die.
Which is fine for strikers,LiG who don't care about casualties.

This country cannot stay locked down. This is ridiculous. The numbers are so way off it's almost comical at this point. All the hospitals and ERs here are dead and many medical workers have been furloughed.

This cannot go on much longer. Time to get the wheels moving back in motion.
You don't get that you can't just open things up and wave a wand expecting things will get going. All the social commerce will stay idle even if you want to start things back up. Until you can give real assurance to the populace things won't change much for the better. If you do try to force things to start back up and make things that much worse nothing short of a vaccine will create enough assurance and we will reach lower and lower until then. A bunch of Midwest states have already banded together to do what's best for their region of the country. The places most affected will likely do similar. If Conservatives want to put money above lives and safety you will continue to lose ground as you will never be able to convince enough people with those means.

Wait and see.

We will see, won't we?

And, if nothing happens in Georgia, what sauce do you prefer with your crow?

Correct. By the end of May the trend will be clear.

Unfortunately, it will be the leaders which see a spike deaths who will be eating crow...and facing recall. I hope nothing bad happens and we're all alive and healthy to celebrate Flag Day. Unfortunately, looking at the events around the world and in the US the past several months, I think it's going to be grim.

One of my wife's best friends has a middle-aged daughter who has been fighting a nasty kidney problem for the past two years. She finally passed yesterday and my wife found out this morning. She and I were discussing the family would be unlikely to fly in for the funeral much less attend a funeral or wake. Not because they can't, but because of recommended guidelines.

Yes. The School of Hard Knocks. I'm guessing we'll all be learning a hard lesson about life and death, science and ignorance this summer.

I don't think that "dead" is an appropriate choice of words. lol

One reason certain health care workers are being furloughed is that elective surgeries are way down. In- and out-patient surgical centers are not seeing much traffic; that is a typical health care center's bread and butter. In addition, people with symptoms of stroke and heart attacks are reluctant to go to the ER for fear of catching something.

Cautiously re-opening in increments sounds like a wise move. I hope that they will come up with reliable antibody testing soon. That's going to do a lot to relieve consumer anxiety.

Hello Jack,

But ... shouldn't we encourage the Worker Drones to get back to Work? (Someone has to be the Guinea Pigs, right?)

The poor and disadvantaged must always be sacrificed on the alter of wealth.

Now more than usual.

I was thinking of Red Wrist Bands for the Trumptopians. Send them in first. See what happens. Yes, some will perish ... but some must die for the Common Good.

Agreed they're not dead...yet. :)

It's a matter of public desire driven by need. It's better to have 3% dead and 97% perfectly happy (after the funerals) rather than 1% dead and 99% economically ruined for life or forced to start completely over at 40-45.....at least that's the standard human reaction.
