I can't think of anyone this past yr. that I'd consider a good candidate. In 2015 dems had Martin O'Malley, Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee, any of whom would've been better than the best of the lot this time.

A good question. My guess is so he won't be seen as taking sides, but since Bernie as dropped out, there's no reason to wait. I think he will endorse Biden at some point.
The Democrats have moved too far left for most Americans, especially Independents. My guess is that this election is Trump's to lose since Biden doesn't have a chance.
Meh. He's maintained a low profile. Maybe, like Trump, Obama is more interested in golf than US politics.
