If the Senate allows a fair trial...

Exoneration (innocent) in the Senate.

Even presidents are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Hello Frank,

Cannot blame McConnell for that. After all...they DO have firsthand knowledge.

The Republicans just want to complain about "no firsthand knowledge"...not do anything about it.

Republican after Republican have parroted Trump's absurd lie that he is not allowed lawyers.

He could show up himself, with lawyers, and take the stand, or have his lawyers take the stand. I would really like to hear from his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, who has first-hand knowledge of the Ukraine Scandal.

!!! SWEAR HIM IN !!!

!!! SWEAR HIM IN !!!

!!! SWEAR HIM IN !!!

President Trump will be exonerated in the Senate and the attempt to remove a sitting president that the American people elected will have failed.

And retribution will occur in 2020.

I cant wait until we get to discuss the real crime in all of this

FISA abuse is not only a crime, but a very serious crime

I assume you're an avid reader, so I had to think of a hidden gem.

What are your favorite books?

At the risk of being gigged for disrupting a thread:

In fiction, Clavell's Shogun; almost any decent science fiction book; any of Ken Follett's more serious books...and any of Caleb Carr's books, but especially The Alienist. (Clavell's Brother Rat has implications for today.)

Just read "The Silent Patient" a first effort by Alex Michaelides. Damned good first effort.

I read lots of non-fiction.

Is there a thread where we can discuss books...and get a few recommendations?

If the founding fathers ever saw what Trump is doing...they would more likely barf than agree that he is what they envisioned, Dog.

I think the Founders would love Trump

They would be aghast at what Nazi Pelousy is doing.

But you are a traitor to this country so.......

Ah, shit.

I can't let you call me a traitor with impunity...so I gotta put you on IGNORE.

Really did not want to do it...but you leave no acceptable choice.

Most threads go off topic by the third post. Fa'get about it. Don't worry. :0)

I can' t believe you said Shogun. I read that right before I read Shibumi, and almost gave that as my recommendation, but decided it was too well known. I could not put that book down. I ended up reading all 1300 pages (paperback) in one day.

I luv scifi. The Alienist, eh? I may have to check it out.

There are other JPP forums for non-current event topics. But personally, I rarely view them.

What did you get out of The Alienist and Brother Rat?

I'm always interested in others' views on Orwell's 1984, Animal Farm, and Brave New World :dunno:

I'm saying that trump didn't give a rat's ass about investigating HB or Joe until Joe announced his candidacy. Repubs in Congress knew about HB since 2014. trump knew about him since... well, who knows, he's such a dimwit, but he never made a move until the middle of 2019. Frankly I don't see why you or anybody doesn't question the timing of this. It's so obviously about trying to get dirt on a candidate that trump is very, very worried about.

trump met with Ukraine president Poroshenko twice in 2017, and never asked him to investigate HB. That's very telling.

trump doesn't care about corruption unless he thinks it's his enemies' corruption. Look at all the corrupt people in his own circle that trump defended to the bitter end.

Biden had been running for about a year Christielie.

You don't care about corruption. If you evil democrats really cared about corruption, why not investigate Biden like you have Trump? Where is your dossier on Biden?

Yeah, thats what I thought.

You're wrong. Biden announced his candidacy in April 2019.

If you evil repubs really cared about corruption, why not investigate Jared and Ivanka? Why no questions about all the Chinese trademarks Ivanka got after trump took office? Why not investigate the $90 million one of Kushner's companies got from foreign funding that was funneled through offshore accounts?

Oh don't be ridiculous. He was running before he made an official announcement. But if you want to be nit picky, 5 months...so Trump just waited 5 months? Give me a break.

You democrats are sick. Just because Democrat runs for office they cannot be investigated. You are traitors to the Constitution and the laws of this great land.

Gonna start a Book Thread for this rather than further disrupt here. I'll put a link here in a minute.

You're not disrupting here.

As a matter of fact, if you can associate a book to a current news event, you can "slip" it into this forum.
