Moral Marianne Williamson: End The $26 Billion In Subsidies To Fossil Fuel Industry.

Yes, I'm aware that the system is rigged for Republicans.

if demmycrats were smart enough to figure out how the electoral system works they wouldn't keep fucking up close elections........all it takes is putting forth an agenda that appeals to the majority in a majority of states instead of appealing to a majority in two states.........(I hope I didn't let the cat out of the bag).........

Hello StoneByStone,

Thanks for the link. It's always good to hear the possible downside for a candidate in addition to the candidate's own views.

I did read that link and did not find any quote of her saying disease is not real. She is being held to task for some of her previous comments, which is the job of reporting. I think the quotes being raised make sense. She appears to be getting held to task for saying that the pharmaceutical industry has been pushing drugs too hard and that over-prescribing is occurring. I agree with her. That is going on.

The New York Times piece you linked does that annoying thing where they embed links to other New York Times articles and refer to them; so you click to find out what they are talking about only to open another New York Times article that has embedded links to still more New York Times articles with embedded links to yet more. It is seemingly endless. At some point you have to ask yourself: "Am I reading a concise report on something or am I being led along with a sophisticated form of clickbait?"

Hello Bill,

Scientology??

I don't think she is a scientologist. If that were the case she would have been held to task for it publicly.

I read her wiki page and it mentions nothing of it. As far as religion goes, she was born into a Jewish family and has said that a voice 'from Jesus' has inspired miracles.

Hello Flash,

All that does is change campaign spending to independent spending more than it already is. Rather than give $2700 to a candidate (current limit) I buy ads, billboards, etc. saying vote Democratic or vote Biden. It is unconstitutional for government to tell me I can't spend my money trying to express my views. And this is not limited to the wealthy since millions of Americans giving $5 or $10 can achieve the same result.

I have heard that some countries simply outlaw political advertising, saying it is all corrupt. I have sometimes wondered if we should look at something like that.

When both candidates used to take the federal grant for the general election and limited their spending and prohibited any private contributions, Americans were just as likely to say money was buying the election and the candidates were being "bought." The public funding accomplished nothing.

Agreed it was ineffective in that form.

I don't think Maryanne knows the difference between a subsidy and a tax deduction.

I think she does but uses the term loosely to bring attention to what amounts to a give-away to big business that doesn't need it, but gets it because anyway of big money lobbying.

Hello Callinectes Ocasio-Cortez,

Where do you think the military gets it's fuel?

Good point that the military needs ample fuel. and it is strategic that the fuel comes from domestic sources. But I wonder why private industry needs to be profiting off this? The military is very large and has lots of resources. Why couldn't the Army Corps of Engineers learn how to extract oil from US lands and waters without involving a for-profit middle man? Naturally, the way forward must involve bio-fuels, so it is only logical that a large government project toward that would ensure a powerful military.

Government will ALWAYS subsidize strategic industries.

Certainly where the need exists and no government program provides it, agreed.

Remember when obama bailed out the auto industry? That was kind of a subsidy. Why did he do that?...well, that's a bad example. There really wasn't a reason to bail them out, except detroit is a democrat shithole. Never mind

My, how times have changed. There was once a time when if a car didn't come from Detroit, a real conservative wouldn't buy it.

Hello StoneByStone,

OK, that second link contained what you were looking for when I previously asked for quotes of her saying sickness is an illusion. I still have not found the context from which that sentence was cherry-picked.

She has also said that she recognizes science (which would include medical.)

"Williamson recently apologized for calling depression “such a scam” and on Friday her campaign put out a statement on “Science, Mental Health and Antidepressants” that said her respect for science is “life long, well known, and resolute.” "

It is contradictory that she said "sickness is an illusion" and also said she respects science. It is telling about the observer which of those contradictory statements they are more struck by.

I still wish I could see the context in which she said sickness is an illusion. I bet she was not referring to all sickness.

Hello Howard the Duck,

Hillary is not running for President and that happens to be what I said on the matter.

If there is a brokered convention, Crooked Hillary might run, Snowflake.

She and her sexual predator husband have been strangely silent since Epstein’s arrest...and suicide.

The first link has a screenshot of one of her books where it certainly appears like she's saying cancer and aids are the result of a mental state, which she calls a "psychic scream." I don't think she's saying sickness is an illusion there, it looks like she's saying sickness is caused by negative thoughts or emotions.

Maybe she's grown since then and realizes how fucking insane these ideas were. But can you imagine how Trump is going to paint her if she gets the nomination? For a lot of Conservatives, she's the ultimate hippy wacko Liberal who just wants to hug everyone while our enemies plot how to destroy us.

I don't think we are going to have that problem because she's not going to be the nominee. She's single and not a college graduate. It's doubtful that Americans would vote in sufficient numbers for her to rise in the primaries. But I think it's good for America to be taking a good look at her and listening to her message of morality, which is an important and too often overlooked one.

Williamson stands a snowballl’s chance in Hades of getting the nomination.

Anyone who writes that “cancer and aids are the result of a mental state, which she calls a "psychic scream,” should not be president. She should be institutionalized.

I guess, but I think her craziness is the stereotype of Liberals that the Democrats should be getting away from.

They should give her an administrative position..."Department of Decency" or some such thing.

Hello Celticguy,

I think she will use good judgement and rely on good advice of hand chosen and well vetted effective experts, a welcome change in our leadership. She sounds well informed and well advised already.

Good luck with that.
But i do like her in the mix. Hopelessly unqualified as are the others but not the wind up soundbite machines the others are.
