I’m a 29-Year-Old With $235k in Student Debt.

You can't expect a 18yo to understand fully what they are signing for when their ENTIRE LIFE has been prefaced on the idea of going to the most expensive college around. An idea YOU BOOMERS pushed no less! And still push!

Privatize everything! The invisible hand in your wallet.

Wrong, they can garnish your wages. Of course, the bankers made it so you cannot declare bankruptcy and start over.

Generally up to 25%. You can file a claim of exemption, provide a short unaudited financial statement under oath, and the court decide how much
per pay period. If no job, they can levy accounts, and the same motion process takes place. If you have royalties, an assignment order. If you own a home
and have equity above the homestead exemption or your state's exemptions, then they can sell it. If you are wearing two pairs of underwear, they can take the clean one.

in very real way the debt was foisted upon them

in this world of outrageously expensive higher education what would they do if not or the vultures crawling all over the student loan industry?

think before you post

In-state residents can go to college in NC for $500 per semester. Out-of-state, $2500.

YOUR LESS THAN 30 WITH THAT KIND OF DEBT?

That young and that foolish - it never fails to make me chuckle. But dont even think the old folks who knew how to live within their means are gonna pay it for you.

Hey maybe you could join the service and save all your money and stay in the service until you have paid it off...... That works just fine. Now I do have to admit us old pharts did it a little differently - we served first and saved a grundle of money then went to college and got out of college debt free.:)
