Disagree. There are no violent protests against free speech from the right nor is anybody shutting down the practice of that right like colleges are. Screaming fake news and enemy of the people is practicing the right of free speech.

That was the only reason he lost the election in '76. . He was a far better president than Carter. In fact, he's one of my favorites. A diamond in the rough.

I don't think Nixon lead to newt and certainly not Trump. Reagan was between those two. I guess you could argue that Reagan led to Trump since he came after Nixon. Whatever.
I guess political "scientists" (what a misnomer) will argue for decades what led to Trump. Someone like him has been brewing for yrs. Republicans have never done squat for me despite what they've said they'd do.

The devolution of the GOP started with Barry Goldwater, continued through Nixon, then to Reagan/Bush the Elder, then to Bush the Dumber, then to Trump.

Goldwater is the great-grandfather of Conservatism; he was the first in that party to frame his inherent racism as Constitutionalism. No one believes Goldwater opposed Civil Rights because of the Constitution; he opposed Civil Rights because he was a racist piece of shit.
