Personally I think banning someone is weak.
but you have to admit banning someone from a thread is kind of weak too, right?

I first look at who's posting the Thread ...
That's all I need to know.
Yes, I'm aware that I'm supposed to check the top to see who is banned, before posting. But it's not a natural thing -- I go from reading the headline directly to reading the body of the text. It seems like it would save everyone both time and clutter if it simply didn't show up from our view, unless our participation were permitted. It would also give people an incentive not to ban people, since there'd be no using it as a one-way propaganda method. If you were smart enough to look at the thread bans before taking the time to draft a response....
We have no way of implementing this system. If you'd like to write one, we'd be happy to use it.
NOPE
we need to see what the idiots are posting in fear of facts
Just start a new thread of the same name and kick their ass generated ideas with facts
NEVER NEVER NEVER ignore lies and evil
If the forum's engine allows this tweak, how about making it so anyone banned from participating in a thread doesn't see the thread at all? Occasionally, I have wasted my time drafting a response to a point, only to see that the person who posted it has hidden from contradiction by banning those members he fears.
I don't care if our more delicate members need to shelter themselves that way. Cowards will be cowards, after all. But it would be better if they weren't taking up space from the perspective of the rest of us. And it would be much better if there were no risk of missing the fact the thread's been constrained, since that can lead to time wasted on responses.

If their intention is for you to not be able to post, they likely don't give a shit whether you see it their thread or not.

You've got my vote, too, Oneuli.
(Although I don't think this change is going to be made.)
I wrote out a fairly long reply to something last week...clicked the POST button...and got the message, "You are not allowed to post in this thread."
