Most Americans would rather spend the $5 billion

A wall isn’t necessary to secure a border. Your occupation should have taught you this. I am perfectly willing to pay for border security.

It's a lot easier to deter illegal airspace crossings than it is land crossings, which is why nearly all of the action occurs below my radar coverage. Even the growth of UAV and ultralight platforms doesn't change that.

You should know about drones? Border patrol? Electronic fences?

Hello guno,

INSIDER polled people on alternative uses of the $5.7 billion in border wall funding and most preferred other ideas including infrastructure improvements, covering a half-million Americans' healthcare expenses, and expanded pre-K education.
The only group that supported the wall was conservatives, while border money came in last for moderates and liberals.

That was a loaded question!

"INSIDER asked respondents, "What is the best use of $5.7 billion in federal funding?" and offered four options: "build a portion of a wall along the US-Mexico border," "fund pre-kindergarten programs for every child in the US for a year," "pay the healthcare expenses for roughly 530,000 Americans for a year," and "fund infrastructure improvements." "

First of all, we don't HAVE 5.7 billion dollars. We don't HAVE ANY MONEY. It would all be borrowed. We already spend more than our income. IF we spend anything, it gets tacked directly onto the debt.

So, WHERE in that above question is the option: 'Use the money to reduce the deficit?'

ie: 'Don't spend money we don't have.'

The survey was a loaded question, so it does not represent a majority of American views.

I think there are a heck of a lot of people who think we need to stop spending more than we take in. If we want to spend more, we need to tax the rich more. But we like to protect the rich. We have to shield them from the higher taxation they faced when 'America was great.' But our need for spending continues to rise as our country grows. So we spend more than we take in. As the rich get richer, so does our federal debt grow.

Hello Threedee,

Having secure borders is absolutely necessary for the operation of society.

Our forces successfully repelled an entire caravan with tear gas. Border looks pretty secure to me despite the fact that people and even children are dying to get here.

So, you think surveillance drones would be a worthwhile investment?
I just read what the security experts say and what the people who live on the border think. They know better than I and very few think a wall would be effective, especially at the cost, the maintenance and the effort to build it. It will be mired in eminent domain suits.

Trump was elected to build the wall.
