The study found that what was driving the mortality rate was white people drinking themselves to death because they HAS A SAD.

Go for it. Debunk the fact that southern Conservatives were once Democrats.
Southern conservatives used to be Democrats, then they switched to Republicans when the Democratic Party, led by LBJ in the White House, Mansfield in the Senate, and McCulloch in the House, all worked to pass the Civil Rights Act.
Then those southern Conservatives ditched the Democratic Party to create the Dixiecrats, with their nominee -and Conservative icon- George Wallace capturing 5 southern states in 1968. Then those Dixiecrats got folded into the GOP by Nixon and Reagan. Which is why the former Confederate states are all Republican and Conservative today.
You know this, of course, but won't admit it because it would mean admitting you share the same values as segregationists and racists.

Don't speak for me.. There's no question that many seniors drink too much... conservative or otherwise,
but I don't think that accounts for the accidental drug overdoses and suicides.
I don't know what promises you are talking about.. The graying of America and the economy have been pretty tough since the dot com bubble.
Combine that with long, long wars in Afghanistan and Iraq...
Successful countries invest in their people .. they don't bleed the country with endless wars.

The article looks into WHY they're drinking and drugging themselves to death.
You keep avoiding the "WHY", and it's unclear why.
Not the point of the article. Again, the point of the article was to examine why the mortality rate for middle-aged white people grew so much since 2000, and the conclusion after not one, but TWO studies was that their mortality rate was increasing because they were drinking themselves to death out of despair.
Despair that life didn't turn out the way they had been promised by the people they spent the last few decades voting for who promised them otherwise.
Not sure why you aren't able to take that away from the article when it's written in plain English.
