If I'm Team Trump, I am looking at those election results in the traditionally whiter and Conservative midterms with great concern. The three midwestern states that handed Trump the election (PA, WI, MI) went right back to voting Blue now that Clinton was off the ticket. Trump doesn't have Clinton to run against in 2020, and will likely not be able to stop the wave of voters showing up to vote against him.
PA, MI, and WI returning to form for the Democrats has pretty much taken those states off the table for Trump. MN is in play for him, but that's the only blue state moving to toss-up. Far more red states have entered toss-up now; Texas, Arizona, and Georgia.
States that have probably moved to Blue so much they're unwinnable for Trump in 2020: Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, and New Hampshire.
So for 2020, the battleground will be: AZ, GA, TX, NC, MN, OH
2020 states Trump can kiss goodbye: PA, MI, WI, NH, VA, NV, CO
The map is shrinking.
