This is what terrifies Trump and the GOP

I have no idea which way they will lean if they even vote. Yesterday is a prime example of hispanics overpolling/underperforming. I am not the one who thinks this will turn Florida blue. You are. I was just asking for the basis of your opinion. So far it seems to be a combination of hope and stereotyping blacks as democrats and felons.

What a whack take on it.

Time will tell. If it's no big deal, then why haven't Republicans done it? Why have they fought it?

I have read that it will mostly benefit older people with old convictions. Since those people already are likely to be beyond the 5 years at which point they could have been restored anyway, I think people overestimate the effects.

No. There was no 5 years. Almost nobody ever got their voting rights back in FL. One felony and you can never vote again. Doesn't matter if you paid your debt to society, did your time, how good you are after that. Republicans took away those votes and they were not giving them back. There had to be a reason.

Hello Flash,

The fact that Democrats won control of the House shows how silly the claim is that Republican gerrymandering, cheating, or suppression is what keeps Democrats from winning the House. All they had to do was get up and vote and quit whining; and they won control with a turnout of only 49% of eligible voters.

And waaaay more votes than Republicans.

because I don't buy into ignorant racist crap that identity politics entails. ID politics is repulsive to American values

Yet you support the party who engages in it the most.

If you don't buy into it, why are you constantly siding with the assholes who engage in it???

Why do you never chastise the right-wing nutjobs around here who make snide, derogatory comments about blacks and Muslims?

Your silence implies a tacit approval which belies your protestations.

Senate Vote Totals

Democratic Party: 44.9 million votes
Republican Party: 32.9 million votes

Democrats didn’t just take more seats, they took an enormously greater number of votes. Democrats carried both the House and the Senate with vote margins of greater than 9 percent. That’s bigger than the Republican “wave” elections in 2010, or even 1994. It’s a massive margin of victory. Massive.

.....the racist old white men are on the way out, permanently

But they kept the senate how is that possible??????

California is the largest state in the Union and had two Democrats running for the Senate seat. So Republicans got zero votes in California but it's irrelevant, it's still one Senate seat.

Do what you have to do to make yourself feel good but those numbers are basically meaningless.

But CA also elected a republican crook under indictment

Not so fuckin liberal is it?

Hello Kacper,

They are mostly black. 1 in 5 blacks in Florida did not have the right to vote in the election yesterday which might have elected Florida's first black governor. That just changed.

By design. Racist white men locked them up by the shit loads...…..made them tons of money and kept slavery alive.

Not a big deal but made me laugh, usually Democrats will argue they are the party of the educated voters but at the same time they have the prison vote locked up!

Yup, it's exactly why Blacks don't vote for people in your party.

We have known better for decades.

Whites should listen to us...….they culture jack everything else except voting republican....

Since it passed with 15+% more votes than the dem candidates got, what makes you think republicans did not support the ballot question?

Just as well Gillum lost though. He so would have been the first casualty of Amendment 12 seeing how bad his grift game is.

If it [reinstating felon voting rights after sentence fully served] is something Republicans wanted, why did their leaders not do it? They hold all the power needed.

If Florida is anything like California it's because it's easier to let voters do it than do anything yourself.

LOL, do you even know what you are responding to WM?

Sorry, I'm retarded. You're point about two democrats in California was a good one. Honestly that might be half our more of the difference. Vote totals in any individual senate election are of course pretty useless in deciding how biased it is towards one side or the other. Because one large state could overwhelm everything else.

They did do it yesterday with about 17% democratic support.

Florida was pretty absurdly restrictive with its laws that still banned voting after prison, probation, and parole. That is actually fairly rare and not a lot of states are that restrictive, even republican ones.
