what if voting was manditory?

That may have been true at one time, Flash, perhaps even in the not too distant past.

I don't know for sure...and I doubt you do either. I AM NOT taking a position on that.

See post #100 for an explanation. Both descriptions are true--one applies to college educated and one to least educated.

Just 82...not 100.

Here are two pictures of me...the first at 75...and the second taken 3 months ago at 82. Both were taken during boat rides on the Hudson.,

No need to take shots...or to be concerned about me. I'm in reasonable shape.

Wow, Frank Apisa is the most interesting man in the world.

Who knew? You appear to be in quite good shape and health. I hope you don't mind too much if I continue to take the occasional pot shot. I find it entertaining.

Thank you. It's difficult to get PC Fascists like evince to understand the concept of 'Freedom'.

Actually, I'm not too impressed with all of this freedom bullshit.

Giving people the freedom to be fucking assholes accomplishes nothing good.

We have at least 63,000,000 drooling trumpanzees who are free to walk around
when we'd all be better off if they were distributed beneath landfills all around the country.

Freedom viewed in a reasonable perspective is all well and good,
but what we really need to be talking about is as many people living well as possible.

Trumpanzees, teabaggers, and non-social democrats in general are a serious impediment to that goal.
Their freedom is something that actually needs to be addressed.

If their base is dying, why are people and the media saying they will still win the senate?

Who's voting for them?

The "dying" thing is future and does not accurately describe current characteristics. Actually, the older generation (those over 65) is growing in size. Today there are about 40 million over 65 and by 2060 there will be about 90 million. If those over 65 continue to be the most loyal Republicans their strength will increase but if many of those continue voting Democratic as they get older it will benefit Democrats.

Some make the questionable assumption that groups will continue to vote in the future the same as they do today; however, electoral coalitions have a history of changing over time. Blacks, the NE, the South, working class whites, and gender are all examples of groups that have changed or reversed over the years. Generally younger voters are more Democratic than older voters, but this was reversed in the 1980's.

You sound way too brutal. Re-education Camps should work wonders on them.

Here is the reason why you are alone and lonely .....

Education. Democrats lead by 22 points (57%-35%) in leaned party identification among adults with post-graduate degrees. The Democrats’ edge is narrower among those with college degrees or some post-graduate experience (49%-42%), and those with less education (47%-39%). Across all educational categories, women are more likely than men to affiliate with the Democratic Party or lean Democratic. The Democrats’ advantage is 35 points (64%-29%) among women with post-graduate degrees, but only eight points (50%-42%) among post-grad men.

As usual you fail to take into account the volumes of the populations. While advanced degrees may tilt donkey t bg rre are very few of them.

Im not advocating it

I am just asking a question

what if everyone had to fill out a ballot or get charged some amount of money?

that means illegal voting would not be a problem anymore huh

it also means cheating in elections would end

well at least the kind we have now.

The cheating would be reduced to altering the results in the counting phase

I think less people should be voting, not more. Now, I would never dream of disenfranchising anyone but that's the reality of our political culture today. Too many ill-informed voters at the ballot box. Mandatory voting would exacerbate that problem tenfold.

Not to mention, as others have said, policy like that has a distinctly authoritarian tone. Just because you think people should be doing something, doesn't mean you should make them.

Those do not call into question my assertions--they are the other end of the spectrum. Your articles point out that those with college degrees are leaning more Democratic (even more so for those with graduate degrees). I agree.

However, my assertion said those with the lowest levels of educational attainment (blacks and Hispanics) are the most likely to vote Democratic. Both are true. My assertion has been a long-term trend while the increased support for Democrats among the college educated has been more recent.

So, those least educated and more educated trend Democratic and those in the middle trend Republican. The election analysis referred to these Trump voters as "without a college degree" but posters on JPP and other places switched that to "uneducated" which was just an ignorant attempt degrade those they don't like.

Even the article by Silver supports my original assertion. While areas with lower educational levels voted more Republican than they had in 2008-2012, the last chart (Low-education majority-minority counties shifted toward Trump) showed the areas with the least education shifted more toward Trump but still voted for Hillary by 7%. So, the least educated counties in the study (12.8% with college degrees) voted for Clinton.

The American south has some of the least educated people in our country, Flash...

...and the American south is predominantly Red.

Deal with this the way you will.

Blacks never have and never will vote for racist whites no matter what party label you all give them.

To insinuate otherwise is deceitful. Just saying.

Besides that, you didn't answer the question. Who is voting for the racist white party and keeping them in the senate? If racism. the KKK and white supremacy are "dying off" why are they still in office? Who keeps voting them in? It has to be a large majority of people who keeps voting for them right?

What if voting was mandatory?

Then we'd live in a totalitarian state and your choices would be limited indeed.

If so, what a handsome young man...…...let your haters be you're motivators...…..they will hate on you on this board.

STFU! You're worthless.

Racist white men have never wanted Blacks to be educated. They were afraid of the competition.....and rightfully so.

If it is made up it is by the Bureau of Prisons. You should check some credible sources sometimes--you might get something right for a change. But that wouldn't fit all your preconceived illusions.

https://www.bop.gov/about/statistics/statistics_inmate_race.jsp

Bureau of Federal Prisons: Inmate Race

White: 58.2%
Black: 38.1%
Asian: 1.5%
Native American: 2.2%

Take your stats and shove them.

I can't be more clear when I say I believe NOTHING that come from racist white males.
