..that it is my personal consideration that ANYONE voting FOR ANY Republican next Tuesday...is showing contempt and scorn for our nation and for humanity in general....Anything or anyone that supports him or his ideas in any way...IS an affront to what I see as our nation's ethical standing...and quite honestly, to what I see as the basic decency of humanity.
I disagree because that is much too broad a statement for several reasons:
1. It assumes that a vote for a candidate is a vote for the current president and his policies. Few elections are "national elections" in which a candidate or issue is the main factor that determines their vote. Most of those voting Democratic or Republican because they love or hate Trump have been voting for the same party the last several presidential elections and Trump is less a factor than party.
2. As Tip O'Neil famously said, "all politics is local" and there are many races in which issues will determine the election based on something associated with the candidates unrelated to Trump. I voted against two incumbent state-wide officials because one is indicted for securities fraud and the other used state money to travel to a fake meeting to get some phony(?) fountain of youth injection.
3. Many state and county races are based on local issue having nothing to do with Trump or party; but, I assume you were referring to federal offices only.
4. Other than the tax cut, Trump's policies have not involved much legislation. So, the House will be a minor player whether controlled by the Democrats or Republicans. Unless they win control of the Senate (unlikely), a Democratic Congress cannot pass any legislation without the president's support.
I think your comment that "ANYONE voting FOR ANY Republican next Tuesday...is showing contempt and scorn for our nation and for humanity" has less to do with concern for the nation than punishment for Trump. And I certainly don't think it applies to people like Jeff Flake, Rand Paul, or other sensible Republicans.
