You do realize he has gone full fascist in his speeches

I am not an Oxford dictionary or Encyclopedia Britannica or Webster.. That's where you'll find the definition of nationalism. You should grow up and quit acting like an old fool.

Dictionaries do not define words. neither does an encyclopedia. No dictionary or encyclopedia owns any word. Dictionaries are used to standard spelling and pronunciation.

21st-century nationalist leaders
Donald J. Trump (United States of America)
Tomislav Nikolić (Serbia)
Aleksandar Vučić (Serbia)
Viktor Orbán (Hungary)
Narendra Modi (India)
Rodrigo Duterte (Philippines)
Vladimir Putin (Russia)
Dmitri Medvedev (Russia)
Xi Jinping (People’s Republic of China)

...and every other leader of a nation on the planet. What's your point?

That is exactly what TPP would have done. It would have used our large economic clout as a piece of leverage in proxy negotiations with TPP members, YOU FUCKING IDIOT.

You got conned into opposing TPP and they conned you by playing to your globalization fears; fears that are really about your discomfort outside of hegemony.

You're like, the worst.

You're a posturing fool. I see right through it.
Globalization doesn't work.
China has eaten our jobs thru non-enforcement of WTO complaints.
China makes noises it will address our concerns, and then just goes about their way with no consequences.

You are blind to this promise of globalization=free trade. Free trade happens when we can enforce our agreements
Not thru some 3rd party dispute mechanism that may or may not be responsive -but by our own enforcement of provisions negotiated

China has shown the folly of globalization. They become trading partners that are basically rogue

For fuck's sake, you don't even know the fundamentals of TPP.we are tying in I

You're just spouting nonsense because you have this desperate need to be accommodated.

What TPP does is give smaller nations more bargaining power to negotiate with non-TPP nations.

So Chile, for instance, enters into a negotiation with China. If TPP happened, Chile's bargaining power would be strengthened by the fact that it is in a trade pact with the US, thus leveraging our trade power to help get them better deals out of China. Without TPP, Chile has no leverage, and thus can get steamrolled by China. China steamrolling Chile on trade ends up affecting Chile's ability to form trade pacts with other countries, including ours. So what happens is that Chile enters into a negotiation with the US, but because of Chile's trade deal with China, we now are bargaining against not just Chile, but China too.

That's how international trade works. It needs to be done multi-laterally because trade deals with one country can affect trade deals with others.

But you have a globalization phobia because you aren't comfortable in a self-contained world that isn't homogenized to your tastes.

I love how you parrot out some established point and then tell me I don't understand.
What you miss is we are in trade talks with China, and it's not just about the balance of trade -
we are tying in IP theft and China forcing foreign venture partners to share any technology to market in China.

How could we do that if we were not negotiating a bi-lateral agreement?
Chile (ex.) might not care about IP theft, being as they aren't a country that produces a lot of R&D.
Any they certainly would not care about forming joint ventures with a Chinese partner.

But those are big US concerns- really even more then the balance of trade money.

We would be working at cross purposes with our Chile trade partner!
That's just another ex.of small state economy impeding our ability to negotiate on what is important to the USA.

Bi-lateral agreements are more flexible - and we negotiate on what are America's specific interest,
not a lilliputian partner tying us down to their concerns

China doing it don't make it right, shitstain and nationalism isn't the opposite of Globalism.

Trump is a solid globalist, despite What He may say.
His actions speak louder than his words.
what makes anything "right"? we agree or not agree in negotiations.
as usual you tell me that I'm wrong but are unable to express why you are correct instead. sorry - no sale.

who cares what your politics are? I sure don't.
it's extreme globalism for all I can see with a lot of TDS thrown in for good measure.

You ignore the CONSTITUTION is the fact that corporate personhood exists.
Trying to conflate that with trade deals is ludicrous

Bullshit!
The Founders hated Corps.

He now openly calls himself a Nationalist.

His policies will soon catch up if he can maintain his one party rule. We now have no court protection basically forever.

We have, in fact, seen this movie and several remakes.

1930s Spain
1930s Italy
1930s Germany
1940s Argentina
1970s Chile

This shit's gettin' pretty fucking real

This sounds like the Republicans calling the Democrats socialists and communists--completely wacko.

well they weren't fond of the Great Britain East India Company-
and they hated big banks too.

the reason is the absolute freedom of political speech given by the first amendment to individuals.

CU looks at a corp as just another organization - staffed by people -and the people's right to political speech
cannot be limited by government

so are the Buddhist monks of Tibet......
sadly that looks to be coming to a final end.
The Dalai Lama has been operating out of Dharmasala India -and has formal offices there having been driven out Lhasa

He is probably not going to choose to reincarnate either, as China has claimed his sucessor

Idiot.
Americans don't emulate communists.

I don't have to prove why to you.

Sorry but one must believe in a series of lies to buy your bullshit.

China has eaten our jobs thru non-enforcement of WTO complaints

No it hasn't.

More jobs were lost to robots than to China.

It's not China that is eating jobs; it's robotics and AI.

All the trade deals in the world aren't going to change that trend.

Time to grow up and join the 21st century.

China makes noises it will address our concerns, and then just goes about their way with no consequences.

So naturally, your position is to give them leverage in dealing with our trade partners by not forming a trade pact with smaller economies.

So you warn about China, but you're the ones creating the space for their aggressive posture to thrive by self-isolating the US.

It's as ham-fisted an approach one could have.
