You're missing the forest for the trees dude. I don't know if Kavanaugh is an alcoholic nor do I honestly care. If Kavanaugh is a high functioning alcoholic he is the exception not the rule in society. I get you don't like Kavanaugh, that is your right. But most adults don't party the same way they do as kids. For most it's growing up, maturing, having more responsibility etc. So your claim that people who party as youths do the same as adults isn't born out by the facts.

So what are we to do when it comes to rich, entitled drunks like Brett who have never been forced to accept responsibility for anything in their lives?

So the reason why Brett binge drinks today is that he never faced consequences for doing so as a child. Because "boys will be boys" or "that's just what you do when you're young". So we have examples of him acting horribly in the past, never paying consequences for doing so, and you're trying to assure me "no, no, it's cool. He's changed! Because I believe in fairy tales and make shit up and try to establish it as a standard".

There is nothing standard or normal about your defense of an alcoholic.

You're what we call an enabler.

You enable Brett's drinking problems by refusing to hold him to account for them.

You choose not to address the reason I responded originally and that is you have no evidence that shows people who party in their youth party the same as adults. Claiming Brett Kavanaugh does isn't proof.

You claim he's an alcoholic. I haven't read closely enough to know whether he is or not. That doesn't make me a hack nor does it make me non principled. That's your projection.

This whole thing is about Brett's unfitness for SCOTUS because he's an alcoholic lush. He's been one ever since he started drinking in high school, and that continued through his adult years, even into the time he spent as a Bush swamp monster, residing in the White House.

To you, the fact that he's been a binge- and blackout-drinking lush with allegations of sexual abuse and assault, isn't disqualifying for him to sit on SCOTUS.

And that is precisely why there is something wrong with you. Really, really fucking wrong. That's why I think by this time next week, Brett will have withdrawn from consideration, resigned his position in federal court, and check himself into rehab.

Kinda feels like this story has happened before...
