da fvck? we're talking about drinking
I have not followed the drinking lives of every single person I knew in my youth until today
I don't have an exact number of people I went to school with and knew growing up and know today.
I know people who partied and I don't mean having a glass of wine at an event. I know some of those people are very successful today. I've seen some of them blackout drunk.
There's nothing not cool or dishonest about what I'm saying. I'm talking about growing up in America.
Right, exactly my point.
So you can't a make a statement that the people you knew back in the day who drank all turned out OK today.
So why did you make that statement?
It was just to be contrarian, wasn't it? You can be honest.
I guarantee you've mischaracterized what was said. You people just can't help yourselves. Honesty just isn't in your character.
Problem is, most of us who went to college didn't binge drink and blackout our way through it because we actually had to work to be there to maintain GPA's to guarantee financial support and scholarships.
But it's cool to see Conservatives OK with alcoholics in influential positions so long as they're partisan...
None of this would be happening if Trump had simply nominated Garland.
I predict that between now and Tuesday next week, there will be another accusation from a credible victim, Brett and the GOP will deny it, but behind the scenes are trying to craft the best strategy to get Brett out. So that's why I think by Friday or Saturday, Trump will pull the nomination, and then in the next couple days following we'll get a teary press-conference from Brett where he declares he's going to check himself into rehab after throwing a couple partisan shots at Democrats and trying to make himself out to be the victim.
I'm not trying to claim every who drank a lot as a youth turned out perfect today.
I grew up with people who partied hard as youth's and didn't as adults. I grew up with people who did drugs in college and didn't as adults. I don't think that's unique. It's a part of growing up.
Garland??? LOL!
And they are having a hard time improvising.
But here's what you said:
So that's a different statement from the one you're making now, isn't it? Almost like you've moved the bar in a clear, demonstrable way.
How confident are you that these people you claim to know really are truly successful and aren't either bullshitting about it, or masking their struggles with success. There are plenty of functional alcoholics. The question before us is; should one be on SCOTUS?
I think it's a clear "no". But feel free to make an argument that an alcoholic should be on the bench....
Except my comment was about all people not just Brett. And I stand by my comment. There are many people who drank heavily in their youth that don't do so as adults. I disagree with assertion and it's not a personal thing.

Garland??? LOL!
"I mean, I don't know any, so I'm just making a broad generalization here to try and save face."
Save it.
Defending alcoholics isn't a good color on you.
Once a lush, always a lush.
But it's fun watching Conservatives argue a binge-drinking, blackout-drinking youth didn't grow up to be a binge-drinking, blackout-drinking adult.
What has Brett done to prove to you that he changed his drinking habits from when he was in college and high school?
You realize that's a combined 10 years of binge drinking (4 years HS + 4 years undergrad + 2 years law school), all during the age when a young adult's brain is still developing. In fact, scientifically speaking your brain isn't fully developed until you're in your mid-20's. So what do you think 10 years (at least) of binge drinking does to a developing mind?
10 years of binge and blackout drinking doesn't turn you into an alcoholic? Really? Is that the argument you're going to go with?
Of course Ted Kennedy needs no photographic proof.....hehehehehe.....
