fired for not joinimg the bible club

LOL
I was a questioner when I went to catholic school. I ended up telling my parents that I wasn't going to get confirmed because religion was "fear-based coercion".
I guess I am biased towards the notion that you don't have to believe anything you are being told.

What was their reaction to that?

We shall see how this plays out in court!
He will win.

If the clause of the 1st Amendment applies to private citizens and companies with regards to religion does it follow that it also applies to speech with regards to Facebook and Twitter?

Think carefully before you answer.

I got in trouble so often for my questions. I was right there with you.

I told my folks at 18 I wasn’t going to church anymore. It didn’t go well. They said as long as I lived under their roof I had to attend church. I moved out six months, later. I returned to church at 23, stayed, praying, paying, obeying till I was 40, I left then and haven’t looked back. No regrets, I started questioning in the 6th grade, but always lived in guilt and fear. I got over all that when I found Joseph Campbell. It opened me up to a path of discovery I’m still on.

Organized Religion is a bad path to God.

Sounds like we've walked similar trails. I questioned the b.s. starting around age 9 or 10, was skeptical that a god would create millions of people only to cast most of them into eternal hellfire for not following one small sect. Was told the same thing about going to church, and like you I left as well! We were Lutherans. Married a Catholic and sent the kids to PSR, but nothing stuck to either them or me. Quit going (and forcing them to go) when Father and I had a difference of opinion regarding sin, abortion, and eternal damnation. Was in my 30s then. Explored other spiritual paths till I found the one that most resonates with me... eclectic pagan I am.

What attracted you to Campbell?

really you goyim have no clue , forcing people to take part in a religion that isn't yours

ah but he wasn't forced to take part in religion.....the employer hired addicts and required them to meet weekly to help them deal with it.......poor child couldn't deal with it and now he wants money he didn't work for so he can afford to feed his addiction......

If the boss threatened to fire him, that crosses the line. I wouldn’t sit in on bible study disguised as team building meets, either. Well, then, again, I might, especially if I was allowed to add my views on what was being discussed.

the boss was only willing to give the addict a job if he took steps to change his life........if the addict changed his mind and refused, it is logical that he be fired......

you idiot russo bot holes cant just keep lying about Americans laws

Hopefully, this man will sue the "BeJesus" out of them!

You may fire anyone you like in this country, unless it can be proven in court that you did it for some discriminating reason.

We have federal labor laws, that protects peoples civil rights, and they cannot be discriminated against on the job, or in the hiring and firing process.

So, this employer is stupid for creating evidence of discrimination in their firing and hiring practices!

The book I found on a shelf at my daughter’s piano lessons. “The Power of Myth” his PBS special with Bill Moyer. I was a cradle Catholic and never really studied the history of my Church. I knew a lot about the rituals of my faith, the cathechism and liturgical law, but I knew nothing of the history of religion. It validated my belief that the stories of the Bible were not meant to be taken literally. They were mythos. It was freeing.

Any perceptual reality that begins with the concept of original sin resulting in one's own subjugation to a male dominator god chain of command should never be accepted on any level. You become fuel to an authoritarian power structure. The Roman Catholic Church was the world's first multinational corporation.
