The employer paid the employee to attend the study but there were no other requirements. He didn't have to join anything. He was paid by his employer to attend and that was the end of it. I don't see how his freedom is infringed.

He wasn't forced. He was paid to sit in a room and decided to tell his boss that he wouldn't sit it the room anymore. There weren't any other requirements than to attend and the employer claimed it was a weekly team building exercise.

I guess we'll see if it crosses the line. I guess it's possible it did.

If the boss threatened to fire him, that crosses the line. I wouldn’t sit in on bible study disguised as team building meets, either. Well, then, again, I might, especially if I was allowed to add my views on what was being discussed. :laugh:

Ryan Coleman, 34, filed an $800,000 lawsuit last week against Dahled Up Construction, a company based in Albany, an hour south of Portland.

I was a questioner when I went to catholic school. I ended up telling my parents that I wasn't going to get confirmed because religion was "fear-based coercion".

I guess I am biased towards the notion that you don't have to believe anything you are being told.
