R admits voter ID is trump win

Sorry but the GOP paints with a broad brush. The very elderly...the ones impacted by this...are often dependent on programs that Republicans are trying to kill.

And registration is one hurdle...and the only hurdle people should have to overcome to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

Republicans don't WANT those groups to vote so they put up as many hurdles as possible...in spite of the fact that there is NO real need for any of this. Voter fraud is not a significant problem...but voter ID disenfranchises hundreds of thousands of LEGAL voters.

An ID is no more a hurdle than registering to vote and is free in most states and is not even required for mail-in ballots in most cases. Some states even have mobile vans to issue IDs. Voter registration does not even require a person to prove citizenship.

I agree voter fraud is not a big issue (including Russians) and ID's are probably unnecessary; but I also don't believe voter suppression is an issue. No studies have shown voters who cannot vote because they lack the necessary documentation to get one. Some reports show the ID were not even being asked for in some precincts. The AG in this thread "suggested" IDs were a problem, not that he "admitted" they won WI and he had no evidence to support his claim.

Voter impersonation fraud is not a big issue and neither is voter suppression--they are made-up talking points to give partisans something to get incensed about.

And no Republicans want to end Social Security or Medicare. There are about 435 candidates for the House, I challenge you to show me one campaigning to end these programs. I have a very conservative Congressman and I got a brochure recently in which he prominently claimed he was for protecting these programs.

Don't be silly. Voter ID laws keep elections honest. No amount of leftist loonery will ever change that.

Don't be ignorant. our elections have been investigated many times and ID voting illegally is almost unheard of. That is a fact. What is also true is when you register to vote, you show your ID and sign your name. Then your registration is checked and if you qualify, you get a voters ID card. Is that not an ID? Of course it is. And then the poll worker checks yoiur signature to the one in the books. Good system that has been proven to work very well.

The RW intent for strict voter ID is clear. Crystal, bitch

You are partially correct, slut. I DO know exactly why the RW wants strict voter ID, it's because of people like my brother in law. What's NOT clear is why idiots like you are so against it

Of course it's a hurdle. Many elderly people no longer have birth certificates which are needed nor do they drive. WHat about people who lost their records in house fires...divorce moves whatever and don't have the time and money needed to replace them?

What about the time needed to travel to one of the (in some states...few) places that issue IDs ? Time and travel cost money...and for poor folks that's money they may not want to part with...

In fact...voter suppression is the only way Republicans can win elections. High voter turnout usually ensures Dem victories. There just aren't enough rich folks to vote for their agenda

Elderly people who no longer have birth certificates can do just like anybody else who needs that document--order one from the state or county. They are usually free for voter ID purposes. If they are older or have any disability they can vote by mail which usually requires no ID.

Doesn't voting also take time and money for travel?

If voter suppression is the only way Republicans can win elections there should be records of many people who could not vote because they could not get an ID; but, few if any have been produced. People are normally allowed to cast a provisional ballot if they have problems at the poll.

Also, if Republicans only win by suppressing votes how did they win states like NC, WY, PA, NE with no required documents to vote or states like TX, FL, LA where an ID is requested but not required?

Richer folks are just as likely to vote Democratic as Republican

$100,000-200,000: 47% D v. 48% R
$200,000-250,000: 48% D v. 49% R
$250,000 or more : 46% D v. 48% R

you know, I've heard that demmycrats were stupid enough to believe Republicans were trying to kill programs for old people, but I assumed that people that stupid were myths.......yet, here the fuck you are........

ID voting illegally is almost unheard of.

you know its awfully hard to catch someone voting under their grandmother's name if you don't bother asking if he is his grandmother.........its like saying there are no underaged kids buying alcohol if you don't card them at the check out.......

Complete crap. When I needed a birth certificate to get a passport, I had to go to hospital i was born. It had been merged with another one. That had merged too.I spent a lot of time tracking it down. I was born before computers, so it was not available on line. It was far more time intensive and costly than I expected. Many people of my generation were born at home.

If I did not have transportation it would have been even longer and more difficult.

Rural people have to travel a long way to obtain birth certificates. Drivers bureaus have abbreviated hours.

People who were born in cities that have had floods, earthquakes or hurricanes, often have no records anymore. They get destroyed.

City folk always think it is just drive a mile to DMV or use a computer and records are there. Not true for many of us.,

your excuses are so lame it makes that old person look like a Olympic gold medalist.......give the old man a photo ID without his birth certificate and then make him use it before he votes......get off your ass and get in your car and drive him to get one, pay for it out of your own pocket......wtf is wrong with you.....

Most states allow several alternatives for acceptable IDs that take care of any of these situations.

Why not use mail-in ballot--those usually do not require an Id. You sign up with your state and they automatically send you a ballot for each election and you simply mail it back.

When you vote you have to sign the register. If you were to sign someone else's register...there would be a record of two people trying to vote on that one signature.

It just doesn't happen.

That is not the way voter fraud usually works. Those poll workers who are willing to illegally pack a ballot box use the names of people who did not vote that day and sign their names and cast a ballot in their name. Illegal activities by poll workers and mail-in ballots are the two most common types of fraud.
