Trump Wants America's Kids to Eat More Salt?!!

Unfortunately, liberals always want more control over other people's choices, even involving what their children eat.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/04/28/school-lunch-returned-not-nutritious/26498493/

I am aware, but I am a granola progressive. I am all for more fresh food in cafeterias. I think it helps local farmers, etc, as well as the kids. The current system, however, is set up to run them through as fast and cheaply as possible using as much government surplus warehouse product as possible so it is kind of a losing battle to expect anything will change, especially when the trend is also toward school consolidation and packing as many kids as possible into fewer and fewer roofs. The change would have to begin with having many more schools with far fewer students per school.

Except the people complaining about school lunches here would pack the child a lunchable, a bag of chips, a package of cookies, with a juice box to wash it all down.
And the promise of ramen noodles when they get home...

It all boils down to the kids, and kids usually don't consider "nutrition" in their diets. It's a fact that I, and my friends (when I was a kid) couldn't
care less about nutrition, but then we burned lots of calories by playing baseball, football, etc. in the summer/fall and ice skating, sled riding etc.
in the winter (and some of us had paper routes all year long).
Today's kids are no where near as active as we were. They tend to play more with cell phones and video games than doing physical activities.

Now Rune, did Reagan really do that? ;) This is how I remember it...

Cliff’s notes ... the article points to some of the [perceived] bad things Reagan’s policies did but falls short of crediting him with the change.

I am sorry buy you are incorrect.
Try Snopes for the truth.
"ketchup combined with other thing...is a vegetable...other things being hamburgers and french fries.

Probably true. "Hey this one has apple flavoring. That's like a fruit." :awesome:

The reality is that people are not willing to make the tough decision--you have to constrain teacher pay and divert that money into huge increases in cafeteria budgets to make low-salt/sugar a realty and that isn't going to happen. Lunch ladies generally don't have a union.

Teacher saleries are not too high...the big expense is Administration where the salaries are 3-6 times as large and prodution is zero.

She was talking about parenting you blind moron.

I'm MORE of a parent to a ton of kids in this country than the ones who physically produced them. For 47 of my 65 years I have paid for their shelter, their food, their medical care and their education.

shut up stupid bitch.

Then how do you justify his actions?
Did you think Reagan was correct to declare ketchup a vegetable?

Hahahaha -- No, that was ridiculous.

I think this changing the school lunch program is nothing more than Der Gropingfuehrer trying to undo any and everything that Obama accomplished. I don't think he thinks about consequences; he just does shit because he can. It's driven more by jealousy of Obama than any rational thought process.

you are having difficulty following the conversation. No one said salt is the bad guy. What was said is too much salt is the bad guy. Too much salt causes hypertension. Try to keep up.

Salt is poison was stated on this thread. I replied to that.

Btw are you a member of the post patrol as well? Do you guys wear uniforms and all?

actually too much salt is poison moron

It is in a way. Your body has to flood the blood with water if you have to much, causing painful bloating, and fatigue. The body can't handle that much, and has no choice, but to dilute it in harsh measures.

Ketchup hasn't got a single veggie in it. Did Reagan actually do that? I don't think I've ever heard that before.

And is that the amount Trump is proposing to add to school lunches?
