There is no doubt that it was a racist thing to do, but I just can't help thinking that she was looking for her next job and was very aware that it would go national.
 
The reporter is orgasmic that she found one email, in how many thousands, that called her an N. It gave her, as part of the SS media, a chance to influence the election with Dem Hate Whitey propaganda.

Furthermore, Cathy Ray made the distinction between Black people and a N. Which is something I've seen Black people do too.

Would it have been so much better if Ray had called her a Motherfucker ... or a racist pos? ... but that would have never made the news.

People send offensive emails to television stations all the time. It was very unprofessional to use airtime to whine. It's not her personal platform. She should have responded to the email privately. Or if she was so offended, not at all.

They read Emails on air all the time, and viewers who sent them are aware of that fact. Many news anchors have done it forever, even making it part of their show.
What I am questioning is what actually had led to this Email, what was the viewer so angry about? I didn't catch it. Did you?
I also don't think this is necessarily a racial conflict, or at least not entirely. When people are angry, they cuss and curse.
How many here alone come up with the most hurtful slur they can swing at another...for having a different opinion?
Of course this is an unfortunate incident, and I think the anchor handled it well. She is also not entirely transparent, and had the viewer called her some other choice words instead of the slurs, may be we wouldn't even be discussing this.

Of course she did. If they want to keep their jobs, anchors don't go off script. The management wanted to send a big message to the haters of Atlanta, and they did it well.

If what you say is correct, just what did the station accomplish by airing the writers racist diatribe, other than maybe embarrassing the writer? Would you feel the same if the writer had been black and the subject was the white anchor? Sorry but I don't believe any public station should publish such trash no matter who the writer is. It would have been sufficient for the anchor to have identified the writer and stated that the email was a racially charged uncalled for rant full of racial hatred.
