this is a perfect example of what is wrong with such laws. You are not 'averting' a suicide with such laws. If someone is intent upon ending their life, they will do so.

You also note that they took the guns from 11, but only claim to have averted 1. So what about the other 10?

again desh... you take away from ten without cause

again desh... if someone wants to end their life, taking a gun away isn't going to stop them. So yeah, I don't buy into the whole notion that taking away the guns saved any lives.

the family or loved one calls the police


the police go do a welfare check and take the gun into custody.


I bet ssome of the cases turn into the person being taken for observation.

the person is in such a state they take them for observation and never even talk about the gun.

So you think the police have the manpower to go and do welfare checks every time someone claims that someone they know is emotionally unstable (that has a gun)???

Also, what is to stop people from abusing this?
