The one thing Trump has taught the world is that America can no longer be trusted or counted on to lead responsibly. The world order -- and there should be a world order --cannot be led disproportionately by any one nation. The United Nations should be strengthened and retooled, and America's monetary contribution should be lessened along with their dominance. As a Canadian, I'd push my government to by-pass America as much as possible while retaining a friendly relationship as a trading partner. When NAFTA falls apart, and it probably will, simply offer America the same deal as NAFTA. And if they don't take it, offer a sweeter deal to Europe and Asia. That nuclear shield is nice and fine in theory, but with a madman like Trump threatening to press the button on an almost-daily basis, while wiping his ass with trade-deals and international agreements, Canada would be better off without it. Peace through strength is only as good as the partner wielding that strength, and it will never again have the same weight as it did under previous administrations.
Sorry, America. The world is breaking up with you. And the problem is you, not us.
What a brief empire it was. Thanks Trump. Trump has had the singular effect in one year on the United States global status as did all the lead consumed by all the Romans over its final centuries. He has poisoned the nation.
Your feelings and logic are fully justified. I'm counting the days.
