The Teachers Union’s Public Enemy No. 1

Teachers don't know what is best for teaching and students? If they don't who does?

If teachers know what is best for teaching and students why do so many teachers send their kids to private schools?

Basically you advocating for the status quo and are ok with fighting change. Remind how that is progressive.

Should I, we, accept a mediocre school system so teachers can maintain their current benefits?

There are many, many problems w/ these school systems, including the assholes that run them, the parents, kids, laws, money etc etc etc... Or did you not know that??

Sure. But when we complain about the quality of education in this country then say we are ok with the teachers union fighting any and all change we are saying two competing things.

Oddly enough I only hear you bitching about teachers & none of the other contributing factors...

I'm well aware. There's no single snap your fingers cure that will make all our schools better. One of the big burdens preventing change/improvement is the teachers unions and there are far smarter people than men who say this as well.

Well it seems you, as have others blame the teachers.. I know many & they are nothing like the picture you & others draw...

Let's be clear, I'm speaking about the teacher unions. I'm not commenting specifically about individual teachers.

As far as public policy goes the teacher unions have the most power so they will get discussed the most.

What do you have to prove your point other than your opinion. Its a school board who sets policy and curriculum not unions.

You have stats to support that? All the teachers I know send their kids to public schools, usually the ones they teach at.

So, who knows better than teachers what students need? My teachers always complain about administration and school boards not knowing what students need.

He's a young father, he hadn't experienced it, yet and his child will
probably go to private school, anyway.

You think I can afford $30-$40K/yr starting in pre-school? Any idea where this money is I supposedly have?
