Are Confederate soldiers considered US vets?

I didn't say he was convicted. The whole point is that Gen. Grant stopped the arrest-trial-conviction process before it started.

it never started because the federal government knew it had no case strong enough to convict. In fact, the fed feared that the waiting army of lawyers waiting to defend the confederacy would instead prove that the fed committed the treason, not the confederacy.

Lee's guilt as a traitor was a foregone conclusion by all of the US government, and it's people based on Lee's actions and history...
It wasn't even controversial...
Grant alone saved Lee from the gallows by blocking his trial.

Your opinion on Lee being a traitor doesn't confirm that he was. He was never tried for Treason nor was Jefferson Davis.

The fed couldn't prove his treason according to the constitution so there was never any trial.

This whole notion of political prisoners being held in jails by the left without due process cannot justify their opinions on who and what commits treason.

US terrorist and traitors!

Aww are irrelevant symbols hurting your poor liberal feelings?

Maybe head for a safe space, and cry for a bit.

Not just my opinion.
It was the opinion of all of congress, most of the citizenry and the President at the time.

General Lee never saw the inside of a jail. But what about Jefferson Davis who was held in a jail cell for two years without due process? What about the thousands of confederates and southern sympathizers in the north who were held in jails without due process?

They should have been less seditious and loved America more.

Considering sedition,,that's not too shabby. How about the fact most returned to society,or headed out west?

If they were true and faithful American citizens they would have remained free.
I can not feel sorry for them in any way.

Were it not for Grant, the whole lot would have hung. And rightly so.

my point is that temporary loss of due process for sedition is not something I get upset about

Do you get upset about charging people with crimes and putting them in jail indefinitely without due process?

The left supports the incarceration of political prisoners. Are you on board too?

If you're arrested for sedition by the government are you good to go with it temporarily, .. whatever that means without your day in court?

Maybe you are based on your opinion on what sedition is.
