Exactly. Special ballot question. Vote on it. Let the people decide, not just a few or politicians playing cover my ass. It is much easier to accept the outcome of something when it was answered too by the people.

If the Lee statue came down with no protests not sure if all that has followed would have happened but statues are getting taken down left and right all over the country now. Having Nazi's and White Supremacists march to keep the statues wasn't the brightest PR move if the goal was to keep them up.

I see little distinction between them and the confederates. If we are going to condemn long-dead people for their sins, how about we at least be fair about it.
