Why is VA trying to take down a General Lee statue to begin with?

About the second part: until we get past the anscestral guilt/recompense thing, there will be no racial healing. There are no living slave holders in this country and no one has been held as a slave.

It's history. *All of it* needs remembering.

Statues are generally erected for the purpose of honoring. Certainly, that is how many perceive Lee's statue.

Again, it is a total strawman to imply that we're erasing Lee's history by removing his statue. He will forever be in the history books & taught to anyone who has to pass through grade school.

It's a really lame point. That and "confederate soldiers are US veterans!" It's just completely tone deaf.

And the statue hurts you how? I guess since we supposedly lost the Vietnam war and the Vietnam war was evil we should remove the memorial right? I know you will cry strawman. But that is how weak this is.
