Usually Presidents direct policy, fill the role as chief legislator, setting the shape of policy by recommending legislation and working with the legislature to achieve those goals.

Questionable if this President has any idea of what is being done or even how the process works, instead he has disassociated himself, blaming them, "the Republicans," the same entity he is suppose to be directing as party leader

I think this highlights what we have known all along.

Even Republicans - the sane and savvy ones - know Obmacare is far superior to the system we had before it. A system which kept people with pre-existing conditions from being able to afford insurance. A system in which people went bankrupt because they couldn't afford insurance. A system in which families simply went without insurance because they could not afford it on Walmart-level salaries.

And GOP legislators realize that people -- even the people who do not realize now they are benefiting from Obamacare -- will notice the adverse impacts once the GOP repeals it and forces us back to the old shitty system we had before.

You are right on all counts, but can not see that the GOP members who will not vote for amendments which is all they are at this point, will not let Obamacare which is designed to reign in socialism succeed, and they are right for doing so. McCain is one of these people and he is actually completely right. Trump does not have to do anything but watch Obamacare die, and let the dems lose on that in 2018.

I had to make a trip to the emergency recently and my policy paid all but $76.00 out of $950.00. I thought that was pretty good.

Your husbands employer paid all but $76 and I suspect it wasn't a real "emergency" and you treated it like a primary care office for something you were too busy to deal with during the week. See it all the time.

It is amazing how little people understand how their medical insurance really works.

Obamacare has quite literally been a life saver, for people I know. And at a minimum, has allowed people to have insurance which would have been unaffordable and unattainable under the old system conservatives revere.
