But we also ended up with ISIS sweeping in after we left [thank you, Obama] and the rest is unfortunate history. We cant keep indulging in Middle East regime changing, and getting the same results time and again, before someone rightly concludes we are insane.

The only way it can work would be if we made a long term commitment to Iraq-Libya-Syria in order to stabilize it. That's what happened in Iraq. Libya---I have no idea what they were thinking with Libya. It takes more political will than can be mustered, to keep troops in those places till a generation of Muslims can rise up to democratically reject Islamic rule and embrace liberal democracy.

It can't be done, and we should stop trying.
 
Why is the US solely to blame, wasn't there a coalition that invaded Iraq? Didn't members of that coalition leave before the USA?

Many factors played into the rise of ISIS starting with Bush invading Iraq, disbanding the Guard and the new government of Iraq, to solely blame Obama is ridiculous.

They are not, well not wholly, but he has to take much of the blame for allowing Daesh such free rein. I recall at the time just how Democrats were desperate to get out, despite the lessons of Vietnam.
