Everyone, please stop all the abusing of the ban feature

There's been a recent rash of posters creating threads and banning half the posters here. It's gotta stop.

Come on, people. Let everyone have their say. It's much more interesting that way. You might learn something or see something from a different perspective or come to understand that something you thought was correct is actually wrong. It's only going to make you smarter to hear counterpoints. You will either be able to debunk/refute weak arguments, or you get to learn that you were wrong and improve your knowledge base. win/win

I like it. Using ignore doesn't prevent the trolls from disrupting good threads, so it makes sense to use the ban for disruptive types who spam threads with multiple posts of only a few brief thoughts (I'm talkin' 'bout evince)

Just don't ban people because they have different opinions.

Plus, they should limit the signatures to a short blip and single small pic. It's kind of annoying scrolling past the same damn shit time and again and it's only made worse by multipic sigs. That's another area people abuse here that probably turns off a bunch of potential members.

I have never banned anyone, or groaned anyone. I would consider it a sign of weakness if I did.

As for Evince, it is unfathomable how much resentment she receives, given that there are multitudes of posters here who are actual racists, bigots, creeps, and sociopaths. I like Evince. She is not even in the same ballpark as the bevy of mentally disturbed psychopaths who have routinely been given free reign on this board. Evince is at least here to talk politics and substance. And if you actually consider her history on this board, she has been pretty prescient on a host of issues and themes.
