The Confederate origins of Memorial Day

No one begrudges southern women in 1865 placing flowers on the graves of their sons and husbands.

But Memorial Day is for recognizing soldiers of the United States military.

The confederates were not a United States military, nor were they even a formal Army fighting for honor and distinction. They were treasonous rebel militias fighting the Army of the United States and on behalf of a slave economy.

Memorial Day History

Three years after the Civil War ended, on May 5, 1868, the head of an organization of Union veterans — the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) — established Decoration Day as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. Maj. Gen. John A. Logan declared that Decoration Day should be observed on May 30. It is believed that date was chosen because flowers would be in bloom all over the country.

I think it was a waste of perfectly good flowers.

No one gives a fuck about any confederate origins of Memorial Day. It isn't celebrated as a confederate anything.

... and yes, HELL YES, confederate monuments and symbols will continue to end up in the trash .. as it should be.

your racism is sad.
Have you considered another country, Canada loves folks like you

Ripping down Civil war monuments, trying to erase history is akin to ripping down the concentration camps memorials in Poland.
Instead of using them as teaching moments at the reality of actual events in history, The PC police think acting like they never happened, ripping out any reminders will send this message to the very small group of
people that may hold theses monuments as their badge of racism honor.

The civil war was fought for many reasons, the least of which was racism.

Not even close, retard.
Ripping down the statues honoring the treacherous racists is akin to ripping down Hitler statues
The history remains...History books will remain full of the failures of racists and traitors ...
The modern salutes to treachery and racism are being erased.
As they should be.
BTW... Fuck you.

I am not going to debate with a child, go get your mother up and put her online, I will talk with her
