That's because defense of the country is the duty and responsibility of the government and healthcare is the responsibility of the individual. Read the Comstitution.

Difference between those and social welfare is the military spending is a delegated power in the Constitution and those using SS/Medicare contributed to the pot when working. With social welfare, those getting don't fund the pot from which they draw while those funding the pot don't get a damn thing but more chances to support leeches and freeloaders.
When it comes to SS, I'm all for letting people use that percentage taken from their checks to invest privately as they see fit. The argument that many wouldn't do that and have nothing later in life is worthless. To require those of us that would invest it privately to be part of such a system because many wouldn't is nothing more than typical socialist bullshit.

But in truth, and as a resident, I hope and pray that the Democrats pass this poorly thought out legislation much like they did at the National level with Obamacare. After all, look at what it did for the Party of the Jackass at the national level; losing the White House, the House and the Senate, not to mention the SC.
The Constitution identifies the single greatest purpose of the Federal Government is defending the nations borders and interests. It says NOTHING about ensuring everyone has universal healthcare.
