California and Universal Heath Care

I understand that completely. Most could stay employed by the military .. just end the needless wars.

wut. no they wont. they are not employed by the military in the first place. These are the people in virginia who build the ships or tanks or planes etc.

Without the needless wars they can build less ships, tanks, and planes.

Are you aware of how many people would be employed under a robust healthcare industry?

Forbes: They Called Obamacare A 'Job-Killer.' Were They Wrong?

Barring an asteroid or the biggest economic surprise in recent history, Friday's jobs report will be the 60th straight month that America's private sector has gained jobs.

That's a new record —*but another milestone this month arguably looms larger.

March marks five years since the Affordable Care Act was passed … amid Republican cries that the ACA was a job-killer.

To put that more plainly: The private sector hasn't lost jobs since Obamacare was officially created.

Most of the ACA's provisions have taken effect. The economy looks drastically different than in March 2010 — more than 11 million jobs have been created, and the unemployment rate has been cut nearly in half.

... and Obamacare isn't as robust as it should be .. certainly not as robust as under a universal plan.

The article is a couple of years old but it said the argument that the recovery would have been more robust without Obamacare is valid

The USA is the only country in the fucking world where an insurance corporation is ALLOWED to make a profit selling health insurance to human beings.
The rest of the world views this as a moral issue...
In the USA, republicans view this as a money making issue...
Republicans suck.

you said the military would keep most of them on. I said that the military did not employ them anyway.

Why is immoral? Morality is a religious tenet. You are an atheist.

:0) Strange, but not really, how most of the developed world can provide universal healthcare to their citizens, but somehow, we can't figure it out.

It's just too hard. :0(

The U.S. stands almost entirely alone among developed nations that lack universal health care

there isn't an easy solution.

many euro countries are much smaller. Less suburban and urban sprawl. That means more walking. Which means healthier people. The fact that we drive 20 minutes to get anywhere is already a huge problem in america.

Countries like France, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden all do single payer health insurance and get generally excellent results with it.

If your contention is that California cannot do what France, Germany, and Sweden do I think you are either underestimating Californians, or you have a vested interest and an ulterior motive in making sure single payer does not happen.

I am all for Commiefornistan doing this if that is what Commiefornians want to do with Commiefornian money. Just don't ask the rest of us to take part and keep the Feds out

That is what federalism is all about

I posted the article. I don't work for the state CBO. Democrats have a super majority in the California legislature. This isn't some right wing CBO. You see the price tag. How are you proposing California is going to do this?

Cypress I am honestly curious how I am undermining California getting single payer by posting the article I did.

Cypress, where you at my man? I'm dying to know your thoughts here, specifically how posting this article is undermining the attempts to get universal health care in CA?

Cypress, you keep speaking about wingnuts and right wingers not having ideas but you won't respond here. What are your thoughts here my man

Now I'm becoming Desh by talking to myself in a thread. I've become what I have mocked so I deserve whatever sh*t I receive here. But reading even more about this single payer issue in California I understand why liberals here don't want to talk about it or if they do it's in the form of accusations of wanting to undermine it or only caring about money and lacking compassion.

Gavin Newsome will be our next governor and he willl run on single payer in the state knowing it won't be possible to implement but he'll want the props for being considered progressive and supporting it.

And as we often here as California goes so goes the country and democrats will run on single payer in 2020 nationally. Good luck with that

Because we believe defense spending is the most important item in the budget

the numbers don't work; this wasn't some right wing group running these numbers in California either
Yes...it's always a failed attempt due to cost. How much of Cal's budget goes to supplying health insurance to public employees? Deduct that from their costs. Also....auto insurance should go down, as there is no longer a need for PIP.

i dont think you understand how many people will be unemployed if you derail the military industrial complex.
Why was that never a concern when the issue of Chinese labor came up? And if you're worried about MIC jobs, simply stop privatizing the military. Problem solved.
