Once the asshole is arrested, charged, tried and convicted of felony assault, he should be ineligible to hold the office he's running for anyway.
 
I am not impressed with what this guy did to the reporter, but I am not surprised that his actions were not enough to convert all the righties into lefties.

You have to be charged with felony assault. Sounds like what he did was self defense. Gianforte indicated how Jacobs could get an answer to his question. Jacobs apparently didn't like the suggestion and kept pestering Gianforte. It's the same as someone coming door to door being told to leave but still standing on the porch.
