He was, in fact inside his campaign headquarters. That's like being inside your car or home and someone gets in your face, you tell them to leave and they do ir again- at that point you have every right to get them out of your property with reasonable force.
 
memo to press, stop being so annoying, you get to ask a question once, politely. If your target does not want to answer that question, continuing to badger him is annoying him or her.
And you may get your ass beat.

While I don't condone what he did I think he was completely justified. Some people believe that the severity or lack thereof does not matter, it is the principle of the thing (or just because they are the other party they should face the most severe of penalties but my guys can get away with it; but sorry to say, no politics in this situation). Here is the complete audio with captions of the incident followed by some commentary. Complete incident begins at :30 followed by commentary, didn't bother reading viewer comments.

And as said by an earlier poster, 2/3 had already early voted, If I was a Montana resident planning on voting for him this incident would do nothing to change my vote.

Correct. Many called in and were refused the right to change their vote.
