Well, I don't think the internet would be construed as the public airwaves, which is why you could always have ideologically-based periodicals and journals (such as National Review, Modern Age and New Republic), but not radio and television programming (without making it too cumbersome for most outlets to bother trying). Technically, Fox probably could have gotten away with a show such as Hannity & Colmes under the Fairness Doctrine, because there was both a conservative and leftist voice operating for the same amount of time (even though Hannity is a douche and hogged the limelight).
If you don't like the perceived unfairness there's this wonderful invention called the remote...lol.
