Before the chair in his office was even warm, and just after he dismounted from his horse, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke undid a director’s order to phase out the use of lead ammunition and fishing tackle over the next five years on more than 150 million acres of National Wildlife Refuges and other agency lands and waterways.

so is this a big deal? Im not too familiar with gun stuff.

Lead fishing weights are not harmful in any way to the environment, lead pellets in birdshot can get into the environment and hurt some birds that might eat them. If you give these enviro nuts too much rope they will ban batteries that contain lead...............it's a good deal

i always thought it was to discourage hunting by making you use more expensive stuff.

That is Trumps point, that he will not hurt US companies by enforcing laws that hurt consumers at the cash register. Lead shot is not dangerous to an animal that is killed by it any more or less than stainless shot.

Most damage to birds is caused by sinkers, not shot which has been illegal for 26 years.

Few tire weights are made of lead anymore, most are zinc and steel.
Zinc doesn't make good bullets, not dense enough.
Scrap roof flashing is far better.
 
This thread is a perfect example of the simple idiocy of GOP themes.
Thousands of studies, some 30 years or longer were required to ban lead shot.
Waterfowl and raptors have been making slow but steady recovery only to have an opponent of the EPA appointed to run it and this is his first idiotic task.

And retard Tsuke applauds it with zero understanding or research.
