I'm pretty sure I just explained that, but for the simple minded.....I believe in creation....I do not believe in a young earth....I will also point out that the Bible doesn't mention a young earth.....that is a belief of a handful of Christiansome and all atheists.....

They could be making a weak argument, to put it as diplomatically as my conscience will allow. The world is more interesting with continuing questions anyway. What makes empiricism, the scientific method and a secular philosophy more interesting to me is the fact that it is a method and a process. Another good example like your Darwinian example is physics, of course, and the chaos and randomness of matter popping in and out of our universe at that level, newtonian laws operating perfectly in the main, but falling down in the subatomic level and nearing light speed. My point, I think, stands though. And of course the religious institutions and their collective beliefs lag behind like any stultified bureaucracy, only to catch up in bit and fits and starts as some priests effect codicils which are disseminated to the mind controlled flock. Sort of like an earthquake relieving pent up stress on a plate fault. THe fact that it was the scientific advancement is lost as those with magical thinking simply coopt the discovery or invention as Gods, like Buzz Aldrin claiming the whole fucking moon for the USA.
No, you obviously did not answer it and still have not. What makes you believe in an old earth or (since this was going to be your answer) why do you not believe in a young earth? What facts, scripture etc led you to believe the earth is older than 6000-10000 years?
Of course, the bible supports a young earth and OEC are the newcomers. Don't bother lying. Tell us about your sabbath and it's importance.

Thanks, I already looked at some of that. As your first link points out there is no real proof they did not swim or were not "rafted" over as other animals are known to be.
EDIT: Besides that, I don't think anyone is suggesting they built something that could carry large groups or animals. It appears they are speculating that they built rafts and dugouts.

Some day in the future, to make it more palatable, those who demand Genesis/OT contains any literal history, will tell us that Noah grabbed hold of a large tree and managed to get his family and a few chickens on board before being swept out to sea. The flood, of course, was catastrophic but only killed the asshole vegetarians in Noah's village. Noah landed on an island and ate one of those chickens. It was good and a rainbow appeared. God gave us chicken because he loves us and you are going to go nuts when you try a steak (which will somehow be tied in with Jesus).

As I have explained, if you are arguing that Genesis (especially the first 11 chapters) contains the account of any historical events then it had to have occurred within the last ten thousand years.
I doubt it. I assume you mean personally, but do you imagine all those Christians are going to Ham's parks for laughs or are they all atheists? There are obviously quite a few YEC still around and of course there are also the Gallup Polls that prove you wrong on this but, maybe that is just another one of those things you conveniently explain through God's magical powers.

No, I am basically trying to figure out how Christians decide to ignore facts and invoke magic. It seems to be based on the image the Christian wants to promote like your claim to accept evolution was, or to whoever the Christian is talking.

No one has offered any proof that humans from 50000 or even 10000 years ago were capable of building large boats. They might have been able to build a nice raft, I am sure they could have carried chickens, goats maybe even a pig or a cow. Elephants and hippopotamuses, absolutely not.
