What did Noah build the Ark with and what it says about OEC

Thor Heyerdahl. That was interesting.

So here, these are the cloud guy's specs

And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

150 yards by 25 yards is going to hold all that?

Lets break that down. 450 ft x 225 ft x 45 ft = 4,556,250 cubic feet. That is a little bit. It would hold 3,894 standard shipping container. How many animals can you stuff into a shipping container?

The Oh My God thread got me to thinking about what sort of tools we had during the stone age. This made me think about what sort of tools Noah would have had available. Now I never really thought too much about the adequacy of the tools but that was due to understanding Noah in the context of young earth creationism.

PiMPle and others take up old creationism largely because they think it answers some of the huge problems that the flood raises. If the flood happened more than 10000 ya then this gives them more (not enough) time to explain things like biogeography and the ark. But then that leaves Noah with almost no tools.

There is no way he could build an ark with this. Not in 900 years. Boats only go back 10000 years as it is.

Yep, you either reject the notion that the flood literally happened or you are a young earth creationist.

PiMPle and TapsOut are just as silly as Ken Ham but less honest and quite possibly more ignorant.

I'm curious why you start threads like this when you invariably end them saying that Christians should just shut up about their beliefs.......

Yep, you either reject the notion that the flood literally happened or you are a young earth creationist.

or you become a mindless atheist or you choose to believe whatever else you choose to believe......

The supreme being went from lonely, then vengeful, petulant, sadistic and jealous to perfect in every way. But so did the Grinch, so I guess I'm down with his redemption.

In all seriousness, you are going by someones written accounts. Once again, the whole picture thing.

Not at all, tard. Show me the stats. About 80 % of people in US are religious, I think roughly. Go ahead, tease out the numbers if you feel like helping a racist demonstrate blacks and latinos are more dumb than whites because more of them are religious. Make my day.

so from your logic 80% of the US is Republican.......

Over how many years?

OK let me try this a different way:

Observe the star of India, made in the 19th century. It is not big enough to comply with God's specs, and trust me, as a good friend of mine is a docent on this wooden vessel, it could not be carved and certainly could not house a couple elephants, much less two or three, as the case may be, of everything and all it takes to sustain them.

The only viable argument for the bible is "god can fuck with everything and make it all work cuz he is the almighty"

There can be no scientific case supporting the ark story, and God's specs are not particularly subject to a "liberal" jurisprudential interpretation. That's my belief on the matter.

You are pretty much "on board " with me on this matter, right?

Who cares? What's the biomass of animals and sq footage required space to hold 2 of every creature in a viable sustainable ecosysten? There are millions of forms. We couldn't do that on the largest cargo vessel on the planet today.

while angels might succeed, no atheists can dance on the head of a pin because they are too uncoordinated.......

The same objection can be raised for a strictly materialistic origin of life. 'Matter interacting with natural law is capable of anything' differs from 'with God all things are possible' only with respect to which entity one chooses to put their faith in.

If you are religious in the sense of firm belief in a man type god figure who gives a shit about us, you are either an idiot or a fraud. There is no third option.

thank god few people are as ignorant as you......less than 20% from what I see in this thread....
