Thousands expected at ‘Not My Presidents Day’ rallies Monday

Good start lol.

Your party has an unresolved issue though. Do democrats double-down with their move to the left or move back to the center?

In electoral politics it's all about the middle. You're going to neee them to win. The GOP won by expanding the base under Trump, not by doubling down on doctrinaire comservatism.
Democrats are not my party, I don't have a party affiliation, I just identify with a lot of the issues they support socially.

I disagree, there were a lot of young people at the huddle, they are very left on social issues and they are the future. They did not think Hillary was "left" enough.

Will Keith Ellison Move the Democrats Left?

it looks like an inexorable shift further left

Yeah, I saw that.

Like I said, democrats have an unresolved issue in front of them. I guess they realize it lol. Maybe not. Republicans got their civil war out of the way with Trump.

They never take my advice, but Keith Ellison in not who they want as the face of their party. And if democrats give up on their moderates---well, we'll see how that plays out.

the other guy who's in the lead -Perez, isn't a centrist either. He's an Obamatron -but compared to Ellison..

Thy are going to double down on a left shift. Yes the Repubs smashed the establishment, but the establishment politician like McCain are just as dangerous as #resistance politicians -maybe more..He's a snake in the grass

the problem with your "future" is that a third of them will grow up to become conservatives and a third of them will grow up to be independents.......only a third of them will refuse to grow up......

Indeed he is.

But who's listening to him? Well, who's listening to him that matters? Trump supporters have absolutely no use for him. McCain is saying what the left wants to hear, but that changes nothing.

Maybe some independents are, but if the democrats continue their leftward lurch independents aren't going to land there because they rejected the left in the last election.

McCain is pissing in the wind.

You aren't paying attention, Boomer politics is being left behind, the Millenials, well some of them are energized and ready to take their ideas to Washington in a big way.

you are under-estimating the old-warpig..
He was also croaking out some bullshit about how "freedom of the press" is a root of democracy
(implying Trump's war on Fake News is a war against the press as a whole)

He's allowing his personal hatred of Trump,
along with his warpig mentality to set up an internal wing of opposition- so called Long Knives
and that can thwart any Trump initiatives

He's full of crap.

A partisan press is the enemy of democracy. And you're right: McCain represents an element in the GOP that is essentially playing for the other side.

Why do you think Bernie was so popular?

Too many people are unaware of the pitfalls of socialism lol?

But you're missing an important political dynamic: folks in the Red States really, really don't want European style socialism. So if democrats put up a Sanders type, they will be every bit as mobilized as they were against Hillary.

Puts you back on square one.

Why don't you go the easy route and put up a moderate?

They don't? They sure want cheap insurance, one of the reason many voted for Trump, and infrastructure improvement, free or affordable college, too. They also want farm subsidies and like SS and Medicare, so they sure fooled you.

But you don't need socialism for that. Opening the markets will bring down the cost of healthcare. SS isn't really an entitlement because people pay into it. It's a mystery to me how colleges can charge so much for tuition when no other business model operates as if what they charge for their services doesn't matter.

Sounds like they can use a little competition in the market.

In any event, go farther left of left, lol. We'll see how it goes.
