Trump can't do nothing about this?!! Robots don't get sick, don't need vacations, don't need a lunch break, don't strike and don't need to take a piss either!

So if the right doesn't understand this does have the left have a policy solution for it or are they willing to let the market do what it will?

I don't disagree. Do you think that's sufficient? Is every kid going to be a programmer? (asking for the sake of discussion)

Education alone won't be enough. You're right, everyone won't be a programmer. However, we have to foster a more accessible health and education environment if we are to survive as a prosperous nation. Health care provides lots of jobs that cannot be exported. Irrespective of how one feels about Obamacare, there are 3 million jobs connected to it. Expand access to health care and you've expanded the job field with good paying, non-exportable, non-machine jobs.

We need a different approach, one that benefits the whole.

America has never been the nation it pretends to be .. but we could be.

You're talking about reality and truth.

How in the hell do you expect they're going to understand?

Most of these idiots don't even believe in science. :0)

So what's the theory here?

Our companies are moving out of the country because Mexico and China have better robots?

Signalmankenneth recently lost his job, they replaced him with a roomba. Poor guy.

Yeah, like NYC where they're spending $20K per pupil for stellar results like this:

"Bronxdale High School graduated 76 percent of its students last year — but just 4 percent met CUNY college readiness standards, The Post has learned."

http://nypost.com/2017/01/23/high-school-with-76-grad-rate-only-prepped-4-for-college/

I could post educational success stories for days .. knowing that isn't going to change your perspective one iota.

What's your answer .. build a giant wall so a Mexican won't steal your job? :0) Good answer

Socializing 1/6th of our national economy isn't a way to grow jobs or the economy.

Or you could recognize that factories dont exist in a vacuum.

1) like you mention some sort of programmers are needed
2) White collar supervisory positions will be needed
3) Some sort of robot maintainers and servicers will be needed.
4) If the plant is located in the US then raw materials will most likely be sourced in the US too as you dont want a long supply chain creating business there.
5) Instead of our transport industry only taking care of the final leg , from port to store, it will take care of all the legs from raw material delivery to final product delivery creating more demand
6) The people employed have more money to spend and create new demand for jobs in their economy.

Seriously the people who say there is no merit in even attempting because of automation are economically illiterate.

So no one is smart enough to try your plan? Why do you think that is?

"270 prominent scientists say within 40 years robots will be doing most of the jobs we do not want to do. Especially illegal robots from Mexico." Jay Leno
Viva Presidente Robot !
