The last good day

Well, we're here.

Obama has plenty of flaws. But he's a thoughtful and intelligent leader - someone who thinks carefully when confronted with a crisis or new information, and who is measured in his response. He understands the role.

We're trading that for volatility & unpredictability. Someone who reacts first, and then considers the implications (if he even gets around the the latter). We keep getting told that Trump's erratic nature doesn't matter; it's about the policies. I think that really ignores one of the key roles of President...perhaps the most important role. To be that calm center when the storm is raging - to be the steady voice when the crisis hits.

That's out. Even Trump voters have expressed that they have no idea what's going to happen now, but they "hope for the best." What a crazy roll of the dice for a country like America.

It will be interesting to see what happens early on but I do think that as time goes by the responsibility and weight of the decisions he will have to make in the office will most likely temper Trump some I think. Publicly I think he will still act the same and put on the show that he is known for but privately I think he will probably end up being more careful and guided. I do honestly think that he won't try for a second term, but regardless we need to pray for him and hope that he does a good job.

Since when did anyone know what will happen? Who among your network idols "knew" Trump was going to beat the pantsuits off of Hillary? Trump was very direct when telling us of his ideas. People know what they voted for.

A lot clearer than hope n change.

They had a discussion about this on one of the cable panels last night. Every step of the way, people thought Trump would change & become a little more "Presidential." When the primaries ended, after the convention, when he was elected, after the transition. To me, if anything, he has gotten a bit worse.

I guess we'll see. I do hope he does a good job - I'm not one of those who wants any President to fail. But I've watched this guy too long, and I'm not optimistic.

the only thing that was factual in your post, about obama, is that obama is intelligent. he is nothing else at all, that you described. what's humorous about the whole 8 years of wholly dedicated support and infatuation for obama is that the all out adulation for him winning the nobel peace prize for things he 'intended' to do, then did the exact opposite, it didn't change one iota or degree of love that people still held for him. he played a pawn game with his subjects and you willingly went along with it, even declaring that you KNOW he lies to you but he does it for your own good......how do you accept that?

He promised universal healthcare & got the ACA passed. How is that the "exact opposite?"

He promised to pass a stimulus bill that would get the economy growing again. He did. That wasn't the opposite, either.

He promised to get us out of Iraq, and he did.

I didn't agree w/ a lot of what he did, but overall, he was a good leader, and he's leaving w/ some pretty historic approval ratings. He'll go down in history as a good President - not great, but not bad. Especially sandwiched between Bush & Trump.

And everything I said about his characteristics is true. He's a calm, very measured leader, who considers his words & reactions carefully.

I'm guessing the sun will come up tomorrow, life will still be good and we will go on as a country.

thing1 you've got to relax. you'll be surprised how little the president effects your daily life.

The last time I felt this way, the President got us into a 10-year war.

I'm sure that trickled down to my life somehow. It sure affected some people I knew pretty directly.

And you'd be disgusted if Hillary was taking the oath tomorrow.

what does promising legistlation, then getting it pushed through a party majority, any equivalence to what you originally posted?

He promised to get us out of Iraq, and he did.
are there still american troops in iraq?

this statement only accentuates what I said before.

he is calm, measured, and does consider his words and actions. the problem is, most of those are NOT what resulted..........

Yes I would be disgusted. But I wouldn't be thinking about it much. I'd be vaping or going for a walk or something.

Clinton was the biggest war monger of the two. She wants a war with russia. She would have started world war III. Be thankful that trump wants to take a diplomatic approach to our "adversaries"

I'm missing all this thoughtfulness, intelligence, thinking carefully and measuring his response you claim Obama has shown.

Trump tells it like it is and you pussies on the left don't like the way he says it.

The "tells it like it is" thing is hilarious.

Trump himself admits to using exaggeration strategically. He lives in a world of complete hyperbole.
