WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange claims in an interview airing Tuesday that the Obama White House is “trying to delegitimize” Donald Trump’s administration by claiming that the Russian government hacked Democrats’ emails during the election.

Assange, who was interviewed at the Ecuadorian embassy in London by Fox News’ Sean Hannity, also reiterated his claim that the Kremlin was not the source of hacked emails published by WikiLeaks.

During the months leading up to the election, WikiLeaks published emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee and from Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta. The Obama administration has insisted that it has strong enough evidence to conclude that Russian intelligence services orchestrated the cyber attacks, which began in late-2015.

But Assange told Hannity “with a thousand percent” confidence that the Russian government was not WikiLeaks’ source for the emails.

“We can say, we have said, repeatedly that over the last two months that our source is not the Russian government and it is not a state party,” Assange told Hannity, who traveled to London to interview the exiled Australian national in person.

A transcript of the interview provided by Fox News does not show whether Hannity asked Assange additional questions about the original hackers, such as whether he believes that WikiLeaks’ source is also the hacker or whether they were working as a middleman for another entity.

Assange usually refuses to discuss sources of his group’s material, but he has said he has made an exception in the case of the DNC and Podesta emails because of the vigorousness of the debate over the identity of the hackers.

Why has the Obama administration responded so strongly to the hacks, Hannity asked Assange.

“Our publications had wide uptake by the American people, they’re all true,” Assange said. “But that’s not the allegation that’s being presented by the Obama White House. So, why such a dramatic response? Well, the reason is obvious. They’re trying to delegitimize the Trump administration as it goes into the White House. They are trying to say that President-elect Trump is not a legitimate President.”

Hannity also asked Assange whether WikiLeaks’ publication of emails changed the outcome of the election.

“Who knows, it’s impossible to tell,” Assange replied. “But if it did, the accusation is that the true statements of Hillary Clinton and her campaign manager, John Podesta, and the DNC head Debbie Wasserman Schultz, their true statements is what changed the election.”

it"s already entering the theater of the absurd when a fat boy demogogue like Hannity is now pimping Assange as creditable, too funny, six years ago the right portrayed the guy as a Horseman of the Apocalypse

The next four years are going be endless comedy

Assange also noted that in recent statements from top administration offices including the FBI and White House, “the word WikiLeaks” was missing, even as the administration expelled Russian diplomats in retaliation for cyberattacks.

Asked if he thought Obama was lying to the American people about Russia’s actions, Assange said the president is “acting like a lawyer” with his allegations.

“If you look at most of his statements, he doesn’t say that. He doesn’t say that WikiLeaks obtained its information from Russia, worked with Russia,” Assange said.

Thing1, do you agree with his notion that Obama is trying to sow doubt about Trump? We know some of the left have been saying that Trump is illegitimate. Obama is possibly just playing for his base to deflect blame for the election. They can tell themselves that they should have won but the Russians made it unfair. It helps the democrat voter keep the faith since they can dismiss the notion that the democrat message and policies are what changed the election outcome.

It wasn't their fault...The Russians did it

Isn't that the message we get from from the "Russians hacked the election" meme?

hmmmmmmmmmm

assaunge is a putin boy too

maybe that is where trump gets his SPECIAL information

assaunge

The entire thing is a distraction -recall Podesta was hacked by simple pfshing -and the DNC was repeatedly warned by the FBI their security was lax.
Obama supposedly knew months ago and did nothing -now he jumps the shark..

It's all tied into the anti-Russian hysteria built into Americans fear response..Maybe we can get beyond all that once Trump gets in

That's what he's saying? He knows the source personally, and it was turned over personally?

I haven't heard the interview it starts tonight on Hannity's TV show.

But I heard Hannity call into Fox this morning. He said he asked assange and the "documentation"
( I think that was the word) was "turned over in the woods" to Assange's operatives.

Assange is in the Equador Embassy trying to avoid arrest -he can't leave

OK...but it's not like Putin would hack and then personally send him the emails. I wonder if Assange himself knows who the original hackers were, or if there was no hack at all and it was a leak instead.

Assange: Some Leaks May Have Come From Russia, But WikiLeaks' Source Did Not

http://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahba...-have-been-russian-but-not-wikileaks-n2260491

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange insisted that the hacked emails from the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta did not come to his organization through Russian state actors. But, when it came to the documents sent to reporters at Gawker and The Hill, he couldn’t be so sure.

"Our source is not the Russian government," Assange told Sean Hannity on his radio program Thursday.

"So in other words, let me be clear," Hannity asked, "Russia did not give you the Podesta documents or anything from the DNC?"

"That's correct," Assange responded.

The organization has a policy of not disclosing source information, but Assange said he’s had to break this rule to avoid ‘distraction attacks’ against WikiLeaks.

"We’re unhappy that we felt that we needed to even say that it wasn’t a state party. Normally, we say nothing at all," Assange told Hannity. "We have ... a strong interest in protecting our sources, and so we never say anything about them, never ruling anyone in or anyone out.

"And so here, in order to prevent a distraction attack against our publications, we’ve had to come out and say ‘no, it’s not a state party. Stop trying to distract in that way and pay attention to the content of the publication.’"

But as far as the leaks provided to Gawker and The Hill from Guccifer 2.0, Assange said it's possible they came from Russia.

“Now, who is behind these, we don’t know,” he said. “These look very much like they’re from the Russians. But in some ways, they look very amateur, and almost look too much like the Russians.”

I believe him, he has been trashed, (by many people), butt: never caught in a lie to my knowledge... burp...
