What's wrong w/ protecting the environment?

shouldnt the question be why is it ok for government agencies to make up powers and scope they never had to begin with? :)

might as well use it all up while we develop alternative stuff :)

I'm all for domestic drilling while we transition. I think the 1st priority should be energy independence.

But, as I said in the OP, eliminating fossil fuels is more than an AGW issue. In just 2 centuries, we've taken some parts of the planet to the brink. It's right in front of us, and we ignore it & just think it will work itself out.

And why isn't this a big issue for the religious right? This is God's creation, after all.

They're more concerned about homosexuals getting married.

FAR closer.

a) Who is "we".

b) We don't need "oil", we need energy, fuel, and lubricants.

c) In the U.S. our food is among the least expensive, and most closely regulated of anywhere on Earth.

Anyone with a median income in the U.S. needn't worry about starving to death.

IN FACT, the opposite is true.
In the U.S. morbid obesity is a chronic problem among our poor.

No one knows how much oil is left.

There could be enough for a few centuries. It could also start running out by 2050.

No one knows.

Yet you know for certain we are running out. This statement disqualifies everything else you have said on the topic only you are too blind to see.

The price of oil knows we aren't running out.

We have been "running out of oil" since the first well was dug. You and your ilk have been wrong at every turn.
