Imagine

Conservatives like to play the "imagine if this was..." for everything.

So, let's do it for the Russian hack: imagine if a country that was a traditional enemy of America's meddled in our election and helped get a Democrat elected President?

And imagine if Republicans had the majority in Congress, as they do now.

If its NOT being investigated, why is the Congress being briefed on "Russia's hacking' and accusations being made as if it was already decided....

The FBI said Monday it is investigating how thousands of Democratic National Committee emails were hacked, a breach that Hillary Clinton’s campaign maintains was committed by Russia to benefit Donald Trump. A statement from the FBI confirmed that it is “investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC,” adding that “a compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously.”
“The FBI is investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC and are working to determine the nature and scope of the matter,” the FBI said, according to Politico.

U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies are investigating what they see as a broad covert Russian operation in the United States to sow public distrust in the upcoming presidential election and in U.S. political institutions, intelligence and congressional officials said.
The aim is to understand the scope and intent of the Russian campaign, which incorporates *cyber-tools to hack systems used in the political process, enhancing Russia’s ability to spread disinformation.
The effort to better understand Russia’s covert influence operations is being coordinated by James R. Clapper Jr., the director of national intelligence. “This is something of concern for the DNI,” said Charles Allen, a former longtime CIA officer who has been briefed on some of these issues. “It is being addressed.”

Why does trump refuse to accept the intel briefings on this?

If the information was credible and damaging, it would be hard to spin from, which is the same position Dems now find themselves in. Of course, the media narrative would be "Woodward & Bernstein" rather than outrage. A lot of people felt the GOP had it coming in 2006, when they lost Congress amid numerous scandals, such as Foley and DeLay.

Your guess is as good as mine....I don't what he's thinking anymore than anyone else.....the intell people say they believe with "high confidence" it was Russia....
if they said it was because of "absolute proof" that would be another thing.....
If he's waiting for absolute proof, he just ain't gonna get that level of proof......intelligence rarely if ever offers absolute proof of anything, thats the nature of intelligence.

If Assuage would admit he got his info from the Russians, that would be as close as we could expect....

Those high confidence conclusions have certainly been shown to be inaccurate in the past.....personally, I think its safer to go with the intell. until its proven wrong....

"If the information was credible and damaging, it would be hard to spin from, which is the same position Dems now find themselves in.".....thats no understatement TD

Those DNC leaks on top of the FBI testimony was like a double tap.....no spin could fix it and the Dems went down in flames.....

I'd imagine that they aren't going to do or say shit about it ..

So are you suggesting that it isn't possible to hack the US election system?

Imagine if there was actually a way for a foreign country to meddle in an election......sorry, not coming up with anything......

After the 2000 election, there was a lot of demands from the left for election reform, so as to avoid the hanging chads and other flaws of old-fashioned methodologies. Some argued that this knee-jerk reaction of implementing digital media could lead to elections being compromised via hacking or software manipulation. I guess those arguments were well-founded.

No at all....what I said was "Those DNC leaks on top of the FBI testimony was like a double tap.....no spin could fix it and the Dems went down in flames....."

Not a word about the election....Could elections be hacked....its possible, but Obama and election officials in every state say it
wasn't.....and thus far, nobody of any consequence says it was....

Thats not to say there was no voter fraud which is a different issue and I think far more likely to happen....

I certainly am in favor with as few digital media as possible where our elections processes are concerned.

Absolutely agree. One time in Jefferson County I voted on a machine that simply had light up buttons and no paper at all. I decided after that I was going to do absentee while in that county. I moved before the next election though.
