The quality of education in this nation has been in a constant state of decay in spite of the fact more money per student is spent on education than almost any other nation on earth....yet the US has dropped from 1st to 35th as determined by current PISA testing.

Question? Where is that money going that you are bitching about? Its certainly not working its way down to the state and local departments of education. FYI: The US spends over 809 Billion each year on education...it ranks 1st in spending among the top 12 civilized nations on earth....yet comes in last with quality of education...even behind Mexico in some areas. The US is 35th among all nations in perceived taught intelligence..i.e., quality of retained education...even behind some 3rd world shitholes....like North Korea.

Again where is that money going? To teachers unions, to teachers, to the boondoggle of layer after layer of unionized civil servants working for the federal dept. of education...etc., its going everywhere except where it would be directed to go if that money was retained at the local level.

The Drug War is making some strange legal standards here.

"Medical Marijuana" is the law in over a dozen States, and recreational marijuana in some of them or elsewhere.

I don't support Drug War.
But I don't want open borders either.

Being a purist about it's probably a luxury. But on principle, I think it's a bad precedent to enforce some laws, and not enforce others.

WORTH NOTING:
President Elect Trump said for every new law passed during his administration, two obsolete laws will be revoked. EXCELLENT!

BUT !!

I'd be willing to bet against it.

I don't know if Trump means well or not. Avarice is one of the 7 deadly sins.
It's not beyond the realm of possibility that Trump opted for the presidency to consolidate his wealth and power; and any benefit to the People may be incidental.

I'm not declaring the sky falling quite yet.
But I know a thing or two about New York con-men. And Trump's one of the best.

BUT !!

I expect Trump to pull a "Nixon".
Nixon got elected in '68 promising a "secret plan" to end the U.S. War in Vietnam.
In '72 Nixon campaigned for re-election on the premise that we had to vote for him again, because his "secret plan" wasn't finished yet.

I assume it'll be the same thing w/ Trump's "Make America Great Again" boast.
