what's going to be interesting is that while part of this may actually be true, you're going to see an explosion of small business (mom and pop) increase throughout those red states. it will be glorious.
They could....but interstate infrastructure is a core responsibility of Federalism as defined in the US Constitution. But the states would be much more reliable in maintaining their own state and local infrastructure networks....if that money was not being earmarked by the federalists to spend on useless walkways, private rail systems...etc.. when local funds are redistributed to other states depending upon how they voted last election. Thus the dog and phony show in congress as to which district gets most federal funding....the party with the biggest political bosses.
The fundamental and basic premise of the Constitution and its restraints on federalism is simple. Government power is divided among the feds, the state and the local governments. The federal government is earmarked to deal with national issues (those things any one state can't do on their own, like common defense and common welfare), while the state and local governments have authority over local issues of concern that effect local citizens not the entire nation.
The proof of this logic is in the historical "pudding". As evidenced by the failing infrastructure systems across this nation....CENTRAL GOVERNMENT PLANNING AND APPLICATION does not work at the local level and state level. The central government has accomplished a great deal with the "interstate highways" that are useful for interstate commerce and transportation that effects the entire nation....but the central government continually fails to deal with local infrastructure issues as historically documented.
Federalism can't address local traffic congestion and the requirements that heavy traffic requires a great deal more maintaining than less congested areas.....example: Bridge failures. And the continued headaches of mass transit within certain states and cities.
Your approach to the problem is to have a central government sometimes thousands of miles removed from the local or state problem authorize and earmark funds that depend upon the political power of the party in power at any given time.
Thus. Indeed I prefer to have local authorities determine just where my tax dollars need to be spent...and its not on some "walk way" in a state that refuses to enforce Constitutional law....yet demands MY TAX money be redistributed to help them support the criminals they are harboring.

My state's pension system is in incredible shape. One of the best. Because they invested wisely. That's entirely different than ongoing operating issues., stupid fuck.
This state can't even afford to transport students from rural areas to their own schools, much less take care of its own highways.

Why was these "rural students" shipped to some centralized school....sometimes as faraway as 50 miles? Big Brother fed. No local board had any problem with transportation cost or maintenance when each school served its own community. There was no problem....feeding, teaching, maintaining or transporting any student to the neighborhood school. These school districts have been redefined by Federalism and its attempt to diversify where diversification is impossible due to the exact problem you are now attempting to blame on your local system.
As always....Big Government is the problem....not the solution. I have personally witnessed the destruction of up to 5 local school buildings less than 20 years old in order to spend hundreds of millions on a new centralized school that was not even needed in the 1st place. Once the students have been redistricted and shipped to the new school, its over crowed and the local board has a very difficult time with transportation, teachers unions, maintenance ...etc., The local and state boards have no recourse but to beg the FEDS for extra funding to maintain a system created by the feds in the 1st place....and its all about usurping state and local authority by the FEDS., nothing more, just political power. This nation does not have a tax problem...its has spending problem in mismanaging the PEOPLE'S MONEY.

So, when funds get tight, and parents from the rural CONSERVATIVE parts of the state have to actually take responsibility to get their fucking rugrats to school, they shit their diapers. How dare the state NOT transport my kid to school? How dare my kids have to wait at a central bus stop?
