Clinton’s Attacks On Trump’s Russia Ties Failed. Now What?

i can't link it. screen freezes with the offer.

But what are you trying to say-Bush "looked into his eyes and saw we can work together?". That was Bush's naivete.

It's not naive to talk to find some common ground, and look to temper conflicts. as it is now when Obama and Putin met on the world stage
they both virtually ignored each other -how is that helpful?

It's time for some glastnost on US/Russian relations..sitting around and sanctioning isn't helpful -nor is NATO expansion'around Putin's throat.
Nor is Putin's new tsarism, and midest expansion helping us. Get real. we are both superpowers, and we need to co-exist.

If we did summits during the Cold War and kept communication open then -we should do it now.

Try typing The seduction of George W. Bush into your browser, it should bring up the site.

I agree with this.

"If Obama were to look back at his predecessor’s experience, though, he might recognize how easy it is to misjudge Moscow’s intentions by superimposing American ideas of what Russian interests should be rather than understanding how Putin and his circle of KGB veterans and zero-sum-gamers actually see those interests. Again and again, Bush and Obama have assessed Russia through an American prism and come away disappointed that the view from the Kremlin looks different than they thought it ought to."

I agree with the "misjudgement" (imposing a mono-polar view on a multi-polar world) but I disagree everything needs to be a zero sum game.
Much of it is zero sum, but the goal is to recognize that a Russian win "there"(like Crimea) doesn't mean a NATO loss, reducing zero sum calculations

We pretty much forced his hand, along with the maidan ( 2014 revolution)..

But we need to push back on his federation of the east....all of this is EXTREMELY complicated and really not amendable to message board
discussions..
That's what the policy wonks game out. what a POTUS can do is tone it down so the extreme games aren't played

Right.
Trump is going to tone it down
