I think that there are a couple of reasonable regulations that could be placed on gun purchases and ownership such as refusing a sale to a person on probation or with warrants found through a background check but for the most part any American adult should be able to purchase a gun and ammunition for that gun. I understand the reasoning of background checks and I'm not completely against it but there are obviously incidents where someone with a great background uses a gun to commit a crime and so it's not completely effective. I can also get behind the refusal to sell to a released convicted felon that used a gun to commit a crime.
